SF-B1918 Frame Construction
The Sunny SF-B1918 indoor cycling bike features a triangular steel tubing frame. All the tubes in the bike’s construction are oval for improved sturdiness and aesthetics. Also, the rear stabilizer is slightly larger than the front one and curved for enhanced stability.
All the frame tubes come double-coated with a corrosion-resistant light gray paint finish. The only exceptions are the black seat post and the flywheel, which has a chrome finish.
This Sunny exercise bike is a light-capacity model with a maximum user weight limit of 220 lbs (100 kg). In addition, the bike is also pretty light, weighing approximately 63 lbs (28.7 kg). Therefore, one person can carry and assemble the bike.
The bike is not too large. With all the parts assembled, it is 42.5″ (108 cm) long and 24″ (61 cm) wide. Thus, it can fit pretty well in a small room or apartment. However, it is advisable to allow a clearance of at least two feet around it for easy access and safe usage.
Although the bike is relatively light, it has a low center of gravity, offering excellent stability. Plus, both base stabilizers feature adjustable levelers. The front stabilizer also integrates a set of small wheels for easy relocation.
Seat and handlebars
The Sunny SF-B1918 exercise bike comes equipped with a pretty standard saddle. Its top integrates a durable nylon shell with a urethane cover. Thus, it is not super hard but does not integrate a thick cushioning layer. It is relatively large, though, 11″ (28 cm) long and 10″ (25 cm) wide, so it provides plenty of contact surface.
The saddle connects to a triangular plate via three screws. It is four-way adjustable (up, down, front, back). Its vertical post offers several adjustment positions, while its horizontal slider adds a few extra inches of front-to-back adjustment. The applicable inseam range for this bike is 26.5″ – 33″ (67 – 84 cm).
Therefore, the bike comfortably accommodates users between 4’10” and 6’0″ (147 – 183 cm). Taller persons will still use this bike but may not benefit from a complete range of motion.
The bike’s handlebar is non-adjustable. Its post attaches to the frame at its base via screws. The handlebar itself attaches to the post via four screws. It does not have a slider like a seat, but you can loosen it up to slightly adjust its angle, then re-tighten it back. Also, it does not have adjustment knobs like the seat.
The bike’s handlebar offers multiple grip possibilities. Thus, you can adopt a standard grip, a cruising grip, a climbing grip, and a semi-aero grip. A layer of high-density foam fully covers it for a comfortable and secure grip. It does not have pulse sensors. The bike also includes a device holder which can attach to the handlebar assembly.
SF-B1918 Resistance system
The Sunny SF-B1918 indoor cycling bike has a manual magnetic resistance system. Therefore, it does not require an adapter or an external power source. However, it also does not have pre-set programs and cannot adjust the resistance automatically.
The bike’s resistance system uses a magnetic brake pad that attaches under the top mainframe tube above the flywheel. It also connects to the tension knob, so when you turn this knob, the magnets move closer or farther from the flywheel. Therefore, it adds to or reduces the pedaling difficulty.
The main advantage of the magnetic resistance system is that the brake pad does not touch the flywheel. Therefore, the pedaling motion is very smooth and quiet. Also, the brake pad does not suffer any wear since there is no friction, and you don’t have to worry about its replacement.
The bike does not have pre-set resistance levels. Instead, you turn the knob until you get the desired resistance. As a general idea, the pedaling difficulty simulates a steep climb with the magnets as close as possible to the flywheel.
Drive system
The Sunny SF-B1918 indoor cycling bike has a 22 lbs (10 kg) flywheel. Although it’s not super heavy, it is perimeter-weighted, providing decent inertia. In addition, it is chrome-plated for higher rust resistance and has thermoplastic material side panels for improved aesthetics.
The flywheel is bi-directional so that you can pedal in reverse. However, the resistance remains constant when pedaling in reverse, given the distance between the magnets and the flywheel. Also, coasting is not possible on this bike.
The bike’s drive system uses a 5PK 53″ poly-v belt resistant to stretching and abrasion. This belt drive system comes with several advantages over a chain drivetrain. First of all, you don’t need to worry about its lubrication. Second of all, it generates slightly less vibration than a chain. And you won’t have to deal with problems such as stiffened chain links.
The Sunny SF-B1918 bike has a sturdy crankset featuring oval arms similar to road bikes. The pedals are metallic alloy and pretty durable. They do not have SPD clips for spin shoes but have toe cages. Their threads are standard 9/16, so compatible options are available in any bike shop if you want to replace them.
Fitness Monitor
The Sunny SF-B1918 indoor cycling bike comes equipped with a simple fitness monitor. It features an LCD that tracks time, distance, total distance, speed, RPM, and calories burned. The bike does not have pulse sensors, and the monitor does not have a pulse reading function. The speed and distance are in MPH and miles. There is no option for setting them to metric units.
The unit is easy to use. It only has one button. You can scroll through the workout metrics and select the one you want to view by pressing the button. In Scan Mode, the monitor rotates all the metrics showing each one for approx. 6 seconds. The button also covers the monitor reset function. You can press and hold it for a few seconds to clear all the values to zero.
The fitness monitor unit is battery-powered, requiring two AAA batteries. It starts up when you begin pedaling or when you push the button. It also automatically turns off if it does not detect any activity on the bike for more than 4 minutes.
SF-B1918 Assembly and Maintenance
The main body of the bike, with the flywheel, belt drive, belt cover, brake, and crank, comes pre-assembled. Then, you only have to attach the two base stabilizers, the pedals, the seat post, the saddle, the handlebar post, the handlebar, the device holder, and the fitness monitor.
Therefore, it shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes of your time. The task is pretty straightforward, and the manual provides precise assembly instructions. Also, all the necessary tools come with the bike.
Once assembled, you only need to remove the sweat that may fall on the frame at the end of the workout and, in general, keep the bike clean. The bike’s drive system does not require lubrication.

I’ve always thought that using an exercise bike inside is a brilliant idea as you can do it in all weathers. Also, it’s perfect if you work long hours and only get to exercise at night. I have mine set up in the corner of a downstairs room with my dumbbells and yoga mat. I’ve made the room very cozy and have music playing too. The Sunny cycling bike would be an excellent addition to any exercise room, and you can even wheel it away for storage after. I like how sturdy it is, and the magnetic resistance system sounds smooth and perfect to encourage you to work out regularly.

I appreciate this article! As someone who lives an active lifestyle and plans to build an at-home gym, this article was great timing!
Because of the pandemic, I realized how important it is to have exercise equipment available at home. I believe that being overweight or obese is considered a co-morbidity, which puts people who have these chronic diseases at a greater risk of getting COVID. For me, that makes staying healthy more crucial than ever before!
Despite the current state of our world, we still need to stay in shape and live healthy lives. Your article is a good reminder of that! Thanks for the quality content!

Hi. Stationary cycling is not my favorite form of exercise. I don’t own an exercise bike, nor do I know if I ever will. However, it can help a person achieve desirable results. I don’t mind cycling in this fashion, but I prefer cycling while in motion.
Also, putting exercise equipment together does take work and can get frustrating at times depending on the equipment. Specific exercise equipment is not for everyone. I may not be in perfect shape, but I’m in overall good condition. Even still, it’s never too late to improve. Exercise is essential for the body as it contributes to fitness and health.
