V-450T Frame Construction

The GoElliptical V-450T is a rear-drive elliptical machine featuring robust construction. Most of its frame is steel tubing, except for the drive elements covers, pedal trays, and other small covers.

GoElliptical V-450T Cross-Trainer

One of the essential features is the adjustability of upright moving arms. Each arm has three adjustment positions and an adjustment knob at the base. Not all elliptical trainers have this feature; it can be quite a plus for taller users.

The machine also has fixed handlebars. These are non-adjustable and come with integrated HR pulse sensors and resistance adjustment controls.

Most of the frame comes coated with a corrosion-resistant and chip-resistant paint finish. The only exceptions are the parts of the moving arms. These are stainless steel.

The GoElliptical V-450T cross-trainer is a bit bulkier than the average home-use elliptical. It is approx. 59″ (150 cm) long and 28″ (71 cm) wide, while the top of its moving arms reaches approx. 65″ (165 cm) above floor level. It is also advisable to leave at least two feet of clearance all around it for easy access and correct usage.

The fully assembled trainer is also pretty heavy. It weighs approximately 132 lbs (60 kg). Therefore, two persons should carry and build the trainer. But on the other hand, all this weight plays an essential role in its overall stability. Plus, both base bars have floor stabilizers.

Although the machine is heavy, it is relatively easy to move once assembled. Its front base comes with a set of transport wheels. So, by using these wheels to relocate your cross-trainer, you won’t be handling more than 30%-35% of its total weight.

Stride, elliptical path, and step-up height

First, the GoElliptical V-450T cross trainer comes equipped with oversized pedals. They connect to durable steel bars. The pedals and the crank elements have a maximum user weight capacity of 300 lbs (136 kg), which is not bad for a home-use machine.

The pedals are non-adjustable. However, they’re oversized to accommodate athletic footwear of all sizes. In addition, they also come textured and have side guards for improved foot stability.

The machine offers a 17″ (43 cm) medium-range stride. Thus, the machine should accommodate users comfortably up to 6’1″ – 6’2″ (185 – 188 cm). However, taller persons should also be able to use this elliptical, but the range of motion may be short.

Like many other rear-drive elliptical trainers, the GoElliptical V-450T has an elliptical path slightly inclined forward. Therefore, the pedaling motion resembles a descent on a soft ramp. However, the elliptical path’s position and the stride’s length are not adjustable. Also, the trainer does not have a flexible incline system.

One last aspect to cover here is the step-up pedal height. The pedals are approximately 6″ (15 cm) above floor level at their lowest position. Conversely, their highest point is at approx. 16″ (40 cm) above floor level. Thus, using the machine in a room with a ceiling at least 20″ (51 cm) higher than your height is advisable.

V-450T Drive and resistance

The GoElliptical V-450T cross trainer features a motorized-magnetic resistance system. Therefore,  it adjusts the resistance automatically, depending on the program. Unfortunately, it also requires an external power source, and a power adapter comes with the machine.

The trainer’s resistance system consists of an eddy current brake and a connected servo to the monitor. Therefore, when you adjust the resistance, or a program automatically adjusts the resistance, the motor changes the pull of the magnetic brake, which applies more or less drag on the internal flywheel.

The machine makes available 24 levels of resistance. Although, due to the relatively heavy flywheel, the first few levels are not super light; they provide a consistent pedaling motion. Conversely, the top tension levels offer a challenge even to a seasoned user.

Like the V-450X model, this GoElliptical cross trainer comes equipped with an inertia-enhanced flywheel that offers a 44 lbs (20 kg) load and a speed ratio of 1:12.7.

The flywheel also permits reverse pedaling, and when pedaling in reverse, the console continues to monitor your distance traveled, speed, etc. However, it is essential to note that coasting is not possible on this machine.

This elliptical machine comes with a belt drive system. It integrates a J6 poly-v belt. This type of transmission comes with several advantages. First, it does not require lubrication; it represents the rest of the internal components. And second of all, the pedaling motion is very smooth and whisper-quiet.

Fitness monitor

The GoElliptical V-450T features a tri-color, 5.5″ LCD fitness monitor with an LED backlight for improved readability. In addition, the monitor divides into several sub-sections to show as many workout metrics as possible at once, so you don’t have to scroll through them all the time to select the one you want to view.

It tracks time, speed, RPM, distance, calories, and pulse. The speed and distance can either be Imperial or Metric units.

The monitor is not telemetric, which means it cannot track your pulse via a wireless HR chest strap. Instead, it can only monitor your pulse if you hold on to the sensors integrated into the fixed handlebars.

Unfortunately, the monitor does not have any online compatibility. Furthermore, it does not have Bluetooth or WiFi and is not compatible with existing fitness apps. Therefore, it doesn’t offer the possibility to track your progress online. However, it has multiple built-in programs.

V-450T Workout programs

The fitness monitor offers the Manual mode, 12 preset programs, a custom program, four user profiles, a fitness test, an HRC program, and a recovery function for workout programs. The Manual mode allows you to pedal freely and make resistance adjustments via the monitor’s rotary control.

GoElliptical V-450T Cross-Trainer

The preset programs cover various workouts; some are interval-based, others are great for losing weight, and others will help you improve your stamina.

The HRC program adjusts the resistance depending on the selected heart rate zone to keep your BPM in this interval. In contrast, the custom program offers the possibility for you to create your own desired workout.

Since the monitor has four user profiles, up to four users can save their custom settings with age, gender, height, weight, custom program, other program settings, and more.

And finally, the recovery function counts your pulse at the end of the workout to determine your fitness level. It will also give you a fitness rating based on the result, between F1-excellent and F6 – poor.

Amenities

I must mention three other notable monitor features: the sound system, the USB charging port, and the device holder. The USB port allows you to connect your smartphone or tablet to recharge it as you pedal.

The sound system consists of two small speakers integrated into the monitor and an AUX port. Thus, you can connect your smartphone, tablet, or MP3 player to it and play your music through the integrated speakers. And finally, the device holder consists of a small shelf between the rotary control and the other buttons on the monitor.

V-450T Assembly and Maintenance

The base of the cross-trainer with all the drive and resistance elements comes pre-assembled. The rest of the parts, however, do require user assembly. Thus, you will have to connect the two base stabilizers, the front upright mast, the pedals, the handlebars, and the fitness monitor.

GoElliptical V-450T Cross-Trainer
GoElliptical V-450T Cross-Trainer

Consequently, it may take more than an hour, but the task is far from complicated. The included manual also provides precise assembly instructions and all the necessary assembly tools for the machine.

Internal maintenance is not necessary for this elliptical machine. So, you only have to check for loose bolts and parts in terms of care and lubricate the machine joints if they begin to squeak.

  1. Hello Robert, this is a fantastic website you have there! I can see you put a lot of work into it. I’m on the market for a new elliptical, so this page came just in the nick of time! With winter around the corner, it’s a good idea to invest in an exercise machine to keep active indoors. The treadmill does get a bit old sometimes, and I think this is just the thing to fix that!

  3. I have one like this GoElliptical V-450T Cross Trainer. However, this has much better features than the one I have. I like that the V-450T has a maximum user weight of up to 300 lbs. It also has an LCD console with a USB charging port. I think this is much better than what I used before. Thank you very much for posting this review.

  4. This seems like a decent elliptical for home use. The only concern I have is storage. It looks like it takes up ample space, so you must consider that upon purchase. Also, it wouldn’t necessarily work for someone who lives in a small home or apartment; unless you have a dedicated room for your workout gear.
