AMZ-948BK Frame Construction

Circuit Fitness Revolution Cycle

The Circuit Fitness Revolution Cycle is for spin workouts. Even though it’s not a commercial-grade model, it still has a sturdy steel frame and offers a weight limit of 300 lbs (136 kg). In addition, most frame tubes are rectangular, except for the round base bars.

All the steel tubes come coated with a corrosion-resistant black paint finish. The only part that has a chrome finish is the flywheel.

The bike is not extremely heavy but weighs approximately 84 lbs (38 kg). It is twice the weight of the average road bike. This weight adds stability. Furthermore, both base bars of the bike has adjustable levelers, which considerably improve its overall stability.

The bike is not too difficult to move once assembled despite its weight. Its front base features a set of wheels that facilitate its relocation.

The Circuit Fitness AMZ-948BK cycle is a bit smaller than other spin bikes. It is only 41″ (104 cm) long and 20″ (51 cm) wide. Therefore, it can fit into a small room, but it is advisable to leave at least 24″ (61 cm) clearance around it for easy access.

Last but not least, the bike integrates several ABS parts as well. But these only have a protective role; they shouldn’t affect its overall sturdiness. The most notable ones are the belt cover and the brake pad cover.

Seat and handlebars

The Circuit Fitness Revolution Cycle includes a saddle designed for superior comfort. First, it is larger than the average race seat, providing an extra contact surface. Second, it integrates a generous layer of foam cushioning, and its top is contoured for improved breathability.

Its rear section features two springs, which enable it to flex and adapt to your movement as you ride. In addition, its cover is made of durable vinyl material, is sweatproof, and is easy to maintain.

The bike’s seat is adjustable (up, down, front, back). In addition, its upright bar features several adjustment positions, while its horizontal slider adds a few extra inches of fore/aft adjustability.

But considering that the bike is slightly smaller than other models, it only accommodates users between 5’0 ″ and 6’0 ″ (153 – 183 cm). However, taller persons may still use this exercise bike but may not benefit from a complete leg extension.

The bike comes equipped with a multi-grip handlebar. It offers the possibility to adopt a standard grip, a racing grip, and a climbing grip. It also has two short aero bars, so an aero grip and a close parallel grip are also available. A rubber foam material fully covers the handlebar for a comfortable grip.

Unfortunately, they do not have pulse sensors since the bike doesn’t include a fitness monitor. Therefore, if you want to monitor your distance traveled, calories burned, RPM, etc., you must use a separate device.

AMZ-948BK Resistance system

The Circuit Fitness revolution cycle features a friction resistance system with manual action. Thus, the bike doesn’t need an external power source or an adapter.

The bike’s resistance system consists of a felt pad brake attached to the tension knob on top of its mainframe bar. For example, when turning the knob clockwise, the brake pad applies more friction to the flywheel, increasing drag and the overall pedaling difficulty.

Like most friction-resistance bikes, the bike’s resistance system doesn’t have pre-determined tension levels. So, you have to tighten the brake until you get the desired pedaling difficulty. As a general idea, the brake will tighten until you can barely pedal.

The pad will almost always contact the flywheel since it’s a friction brake, not a magnetic one. Therefore, it will wear out over time, so you will have to replace it after a while. Also, the bike is not entirely silent since there is friction between the flywheel and the brake pad.

In addition, the tension knob also has the function of an emergency brake. You can press it down to immediately stop the flywheel from spinning, which you may be required to do as the pedals continue to turn for as long as the wheel is spinning.

Drive system

First, the Circuit Fitness AMZ-948BK bike has a 30-lb (13.6 kg) flywheel. It has a perimeter-weighted structure for improved inertia, which is excellent for spinning workouts. As I’ve mentioned, the flywheel is chrome-coated with black ABS side panels.

The bike’s flywheel is bi-directional. In other words, it gives you the possibility to pedal in reverse. However, coasting or free-wheeling is not possible on the bike. So, when pedaling in reverse, you will benefit from the same pedaling difficulty.

The bike comes equipped with a durable 3-piece crankset with steel crank arms similar to a road bike crankset. Thus, it can withstand pedaling while standing up. The included pedals are aluminum alloy featuring a non-slip surface and adjustable toe cages. Unfortunately, they don’t have SPD clips, but their threads are standard.

Last, the Circuit Fitness Revolution Cycle has a belt drive system. It uses a heavy-duty poly-v belt, which offers excellent traction. In addition, the belt doesn’t need any lubrication, unlike a chain drive. In addition, it also contributes to the ride’s overall smoothness, generating slightly less vibration than a chain.

AMZ-948BK Assembly and Maintenance

Circuit Fitness Revolution Cycle

The bike’s main body comes pre-assembled, with the flywheel, the crankset, the brake system, and the belt already in place. However, the rest of the parts still require user assembly. You will have to attach the two base bars, the seat post, the handlebar post, the handlebars, and the pedals.

Consequently, the whole task shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes of your time. The manual provides all the necessary instructions, and an essential toolkit also comes with the bike.

Once assembled, maintenance doesn’t require much. However, it would be best if you kept the frame clean, wiped the sweat from the frame at the end of the workout, and periodically checked for loose bolts and parts and retightened them as needed.

The brake pad will eventually wear out and will require replacement. If it squeaks when in contact with the moving flywheel, a bit of silicone lubricant should solve the problem.

  1. Hello Robert,

I swear by the stationary bike for a low-impact source for cardio! I am actually searching for a new one because the two I have are becoming worn and getting close to breaking down. My wife and I have actually replaced the recliners in the living room with exercise bikes. WE still enjoy watching a movie together while getting in some exercise.

I like the AMZ-948BK for its simplicity and durability. Not to mention if you have looked at some of the bikes that are out there, it is affordable!

Thank you for sharing; I appreciate having several to compare in one place.

  2. I used to gym four years ago and run my choice, but I used other gym equipment just like this one. It was hard, and I was soo exhausted, but it did help my tights and legs.

I am planning to buy gym equipment in the future and place it at home. This one seems tempting, and I might include it on the list.

Time to burn all of that and get my energy back after years of not going to the gym. Thanks for the review.

  3. I have heard about this revolution cycle and had a recent discussion with family, offering suggestions to check on this handy cycle and start working out from home instead of driving to the gym daily. This is how we found your review and tried to determine whether it fits my home gym. Unfortunately, when we started buying at-home exercise equipment, many reviews didn’t answer my questions, and your review covered everything I was researching.
