Exerpeutic 6000 QF Magnetic Elliptical | Smoother Striding Motion

The Exerpeutic 6000 QF Magnetic Elliptical features a programmable fitness monitor, a double transmission drive system, magnetic tension resistance via computer control, and integrated HR pulse sensors in the fixed handlebars for targeting heart rate zones, all at a very affordable price.

The 6000 QF double transmission operates with two flywheels and two belt design systems, which doubles the overall gear ratio and increases momentum and a smoother striding motion than most single, oversized, and heavy flywheel drive systems. In addition, the double transmission utilizes a space-saving compact design, which reduces the elliptical trainer’s overall length and size.

The Exerpeutic 6000 QF has high visibility backlit LCD fitness monitor that displays distance, time, RPM, calories burned, speed, pulse, odometer, and Watts. In addition, the monitor comes with 24 preset workout programs, one quick start program, and three-goal workout settings: distance, time, and calories burned.

6000 QF Frame Construction

The Exerpeutic 6000 QF features a steel frame with ABS casing for the drive and resistance elements. The chassis combines cylindrical, ovalized, and rectangular tubes in its construction. All the steel parts come with a durable, corrosion-resistant black paint finish. The ABS drive casing is black/blue, which is the only current color available.

The fully assembled trainer is not extremely large. It’s not much larger than an exercise bike in terms of footprint. It takes 55″L x 25″W (140 x 64 cm) of floor space, but it is advisable to leave at least two feet of clearance all around the trainer for ease of access and safe usage. Also, the unit’s highest point is its mobile handlebars, reaching approximately 64″ (163 cm) above floor level.

The Exerpeutic 6000 QF is not an extremely heavy elliptical machine, weighing approximately 84 lbs (38 kg). However, this weight and its low center of gravity provide plenty of stability. In addition, its rear base features polygonal caps that can be rotated and used as adjustable stabilizers, while its front base integrates transport wheels.

Handlebars and pedals

Like most other elliptical cross trainers, the Exerpeutic 6000 QF comes equipped with two handlebars: one fixed and one mobile. The fixed handlebars attach directly to the front mast of the unit via two bolts. They are non-adjustable, and they integrate HR pulse sensors.

The mobile handlebars have more extended grips and ball grips at the top. However, they don’t have pulse sensors. Unfortunately, they cannot be locked; they will continue to move for as long as you pedal. In addition, both handlebars have a layer of rubber foam on their grips for improved comfort.

The pedals are made of durable ABS material. They have a ribbed, anti-slip surface and inner/frond guards for extra foot stability. However, they don’t have extra cushioning or other additional shock-absorption elements. Nonetheless, just like any other elliptical machine, the 6000 QF does eliminate a lot of the impact on your joints.

The pedals are non-adjustable. They’re attached to a set of durable bars. Also, the crank elements have a maximum user weight capacity of 270 lbs (122 kg).

6000 QF Elliptical path, stride, and step-up height

The Exerpeutic 6000 QF is a rear-drive elliptical trainer. Most cross trainers of this type have a slightly inclined forward elliptical path, which applies to this model. Therefore, the pedaling motion resembles a descent on a soft ramp, which leads to a more consistent glute and thigh workout.

This elliptical trainer features an 18-inch (46 cm) non-adjustable stride. It is a medium stride length, so the machine should accommodate users up to 6’2 ″ (188 cm), promoting a complete range of motion.

Also, the spacing between the pedals (Q-Factor) isn’t too large. It is only 6″ (152 mm), so positioning your feet on the pedals is natural, eliminating the lateral stress on the ankles and knees, which may be present in the case of a machine with pedals that are too far apart.

The machine’s step-up height (lowest pedal position) is 6″ (15.2 cm). However, the pedals stand approximately 15″ (40 cm) above floor level at the highest point. Therefore, placing and using this elliptical cross trainer in a room with a ceiling at least 20″ (51 cm) higher than the tallest user is advisable.

Drive and resistance

The Exerpeutic 6000 QF magnetic elliptical trainer features a dual belt drive and two internal parallel flywheels, which results in extra smoothness and stability for the pedaling motion. Also, it adds resistance and consistency to the ride, apart from the machine’s magnetic resistance.

Since the trainer’s drive system uses belts, not chains, you don’t have to worry about lubrication. Also, the belts generate considerably less vibration than chains, contributing to the ride’s overall smoothness.

This Exerpeutic elliptical trainer features an eddy current magnetic resistance system. Therefore, it requires an external power source. In addition, a power adapter comes with the machine.

In addition, the fitness monitor features multiple workout programs, and the machine can automatically adjust the resistance depending on the application.

The trainer’s resistance system consists of an internal servo motor connected to the console and a magnetic brake. As you adjust the fitness monitor controls’ resistance or as a preset program automatically adjusts the resistance, the servo motor changes the magnets’ pull, which adds to or reduces the workout resistance.

The machine makes available 24 levels of resistance. The first few levels deliver light resistance, excellent for warming up, low-intensity cardio workouts, or recovery training. However, on the other hand, the top 20-24 tension levels offer considerably more resistance, allowing you to perform a more intense workout and burn more calories.

6000 QF Fitness monitor

The Exerpeutic 6000 QF Magnetic Elliptical trainer features a fitness monitor LCD with a backlight that divides into multiple sub-sections to show as many workout metrics as possible.

It tracks time, distance, total distance (odometer), speed, RPM, calories burned, watts, and pulse. The speed and distance can either be Imperial units (MPH and miles) or metric units (km/h and kilometers).

Unfortunately, the pulse reading function is not wireless. Instead, the monitor can only read your pulse if you hold on to the HR pulse sensors integrated into the fixed handlebars.

The fitness monitor has 24 preset programs. These cover various types of workouts. For example, some are interval-based; others help you burn more calories, while others aim to help you improve your cardiovascular shape.

Goal settings are also available. For example, you can set a goal (or a target) for each workout’s time, distance, and calories. After setting a goal for any workout metrics, the monitor will countdown from the selected value until it reaches zero.

The monitor has a Pulse Recovery function with a quick-access button. It requires you to hold on to the HR pulse sensors to monitor your heart rate until your pulse returns to normal BPM after the workout. Based on the result, the monitor will provide a fitness rating between F1 (excellent) and F6 (poor).

Amenities

The fitness monitor is Bluetooth-capable and compatible with the MyCloudFitness app. Therefore, you can download this app on your iOS or Android device, sync it with the monitor, record your workout data, or view your workout history and progress.

With a MyCloudFitness subscription (free trial for 30 days), you can view hundreds of workouts with top trainers, get personalized programs, and World Tour Solo allows you to work out in Paris, Central Park, and more.

Take a day trip or ride at night on the Exerpeutic 6000 QF elliptical with workout videos you can transport anywhere you want without ever leaving the comfort of your home.

Last but not least, the monitor also integrates a device holder, which consists of a minor, rubberized shelf at the monitor’s base. This shelf is large enough to accommodate any tablet.

6000 QF Assembly and Maintenance

The machine’s base frame with the drive and resistance elements comes pre-assembled. However, the rest of the parts still require user assembly. Therefore, you will have to attach the unit’s base bars, the pedals, the front mast, the moving arms, the fixed handlebars, and the fitness monitor.

Consequently, it may take up to two hours, but the whole task isn’t too complicated. The manual provides step-by-step assembly instructions and all the necessary tools for the machine.

Once assembled, the cross trainer does not require too much maintenance. However, you must clean it, grease the joints if they begin to squeak, and periodically check for loose parts and retighten them as needed.

  1. Hello there! I have just been reading through your excellent review of the Exerpeutic 6000 and just had to drop you a quick comment to say thanks for the information. I have been looking at several elliptical models and wondering which one I should go for. This review of the Exerpeutic 6000 Magnetic Elliptical has really helped me, and I don’t think the price is too bad either. Would you say that this was the best option to go for at this price level, or can you recommend some alternatives?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

    • Hello Andrew, thanks for your interest in the Exerpeutic 6000 QF Magnetic Elliptical and your question about alternative choices. I get asked this question all the time. It comes down to personal preference and what you expect of the exercise equipment.

Let’s assume that you want a machine with similar features as the Exerpeutic, i.e., workout programs, resistance levels, etc., etc., and you want it to last for several years. My suggestion is to spend a little bit more and get a durable machine. Here’s a link to a review of the GoElliptical V-450X Elliptical on my website that I believe would be ideal for you.

      Warmest regards, Robert

  2. It seems like a solid all in one good elliptical to use, and honestly, it’s great for a complicated machine like that to have a little maintenance required and easy assembling in its pros; knowing how much I and many others can be clumsy with modern high tech stuff, working out from home is beginning to take place every day more. I’m glad to see those kinds of products evolve.
