E25 Frame construction
The SNODE E25 is a steel frame with a base from oval tubing, while the front mast and handlebars are cylindrical tubing. All the steel parts in the machine’s construction come coated with a chip-resistant and rust-resistant paint finish, gray.
Of course, the machine also integrates several durable thermoplastic material parts. For example, the pedal trays, the covers of the drive system, and the crank’s side panels are plastic made. In addition, the main casing of the machine’s drive mechanism and the joint surfaces is white, while the crank covers a wooden pattern.
The fully assembled machine doesn’t have an enormous footprint. It takes approx. 35″L x 20″W (89 x 51 cm) of floor space.
However, considering that the machine’s front mast is slightly inclined forward and the moving arms extend past the front base, the unit’s total length is approx 54″ (137 cm). Plus, it is advisable to leave at least two feet of clearance around the elliptical for easy access and safe usage.
This SNODE elliptical trainer is reasonably heavy. It weighs over 85 lbs (38.5 kg). Therefore, two people should carry the packaged unit. But once assembled, one person can relocate the machine.
That’s because its front stabilizer incorporates two transport wheels. Plus, both its base stabilizers feature adjustable levelers. Therefore, it’s not necessary to place it on a mat.
Like many other elliptical machines, the SNODE E25 has two handlebars; one fixed one mobile. The fixed handlebars have a looped, unified design. They integrate pulse sensors. They are non-adjustable and attach to the front mast of the machine via screws.
The mobile handlebars feature extended grips with oval grips at the top. They adhere to the pedal bars to not remain stationary for as long as you pedal. Both sets of handlebars have their grips covered by high-density foam sleeves for improved comfort.
Elliptical path, stride, and pedal height
The SNODE E25 is a rear-drive elliptical trainer. Therefore, its elliptical path is slightly inclined forward. Its front upright bar and the handlebars are also tilted forward. Thus, a ride on this machine resembles a descent on a soft ramp.
The machine’s pedal trays are durable thermoplastic material. They have a textured surface and side/front guards for improved foot stability, and they don’t have any extra cushioning or articulation elements.
Each pedal bar has three positions for attaching the pedal tray. Thus, you can have them a little closer or farther from the front base of the machine. The crankset and the pedals are sturdy, and the machine supports users up to 265 lbs (120 kg).
Like most other rear-drive elliptical trainers in this feature range, the SNODE E25 does not offer a very long stride. Its stride length is approx 14.6″ (37 cm). Therefore, it should be able to comfortably accommodate users up to 6’0″ – 6’1″ (183 – 185 cm). Taller users can still use this cross trainer, but they may not benefit from a complete range of motion.
This elliptical trainer does not have an incline system. Therefore, the position of the elliptical path is non-adjustable. Also, the pedals and the stride length are non-adjustable.
The SNODE E25 has a step-up pedal height of approx. 9″ (23 cm). However, the pedals stand at approx. 16″ (40 cm) above floor level at their highest point. Therefore, it is advisable to use the machine in a room with a ceiling at least 20″ (51 cm) taller than your height.
E25 Drive and resistance
The SNODE E25 elliptical machine comes equipped with a motorized magnetic resistance system. Therefore, it requires connecting an electrical outlet to power up its console and adjusting the resistance (an adapter comes included). Furthermore, it also means that the console with pre-set workout programs can automatically adjust the resistance.
The machine’s resistance system consists of a magnetic brake connected to the flywheel assembly and a small servo motor. The motor connects to the console, so when you adjust the resistance or adjust the resistance automatically, it changes the magnetic brake’s position, increasing or decreasing the magnetic pull on the flywheel for more or less pedaling resistance.
This SNODE elliptical trainer offers a reasonably decent micro-adjustability range. It offers 32 levels of resistance. The 1-5 levels deliver a low workout load, making them great for warm-ups, muscle toning, or recovery training.
Conversely, the top 30-32 levels of resistance provide considerably more pedal tension for anyone who wants to undergo a more consistent workout.
The E25 has a 13 lb (5.6 kg) perimeter-weighted flywheel, improving inertia and motion stability and maintaining the ride’s consistency. The flywheel is bi-directional. Therefore, you can pedal in reverse if you want. However, you cannot coast on this machine, and as I’ve mentioned earlier, the mobile arms continue to move for as long as you pedal.
Last but not least, this elliptical cross trainer comes equipped with a belt drive system. It uses a durable poly-v belt. This type of drivetrain comes with a few advantages. First, it delivers a smoother motion than a chain as it generates less vibration. And second of all, you don’t have to lubricate it periodically.
Fitness monitor
The SNODE E25 elliptical machine comes equipped with a mid-range fitness monitor. First, it features an LCD divided into several sub-sections to show as many workout metrics as possible. It tracks speed, RPM, time, distance, calories, and pulse, with the speed and distance displayed in metric or English units.
The pulse reading function is grip contact only. The console can only read your pulse if you hold on to the integrated sensors. Thus, it cannot communicate with a wireless HR chest strap.
The fitness monitor has Bluetooth connectivity, and it is also compatible with the free iConsole+ app available for iOS and Android. This app allows you to track your progress online and provides additional workout metrics and data, workout history, and more.
The usage of the iConsole+ app is not necessary, though. The SNODE E25 elliptical has 12 pre-set workout programs, and each program has its segment layout engraved under the monitor LCD. Some have an interval layout; others have a peak layout, while others increase the resistance as you progress.
The monitor also has a Recovery Function and a Body Fat calculator. Each one of these functions has its quick selection key on the console.
The Recovery function counts your pulse at the end of the workout and determines how long it takes for your heart to return to an average BPM. Based on this result, it will give you a fitness rating between F1 – Excellent and F6 – Poor.
The Body Fat calculator requires you to input your data, such as height, weight, age, and gender. Your input will calculate your body fat percentage and help you keep an eye on your weight.
The monitor does not have speakers, a workout fan, or a USB charging port. However, it does integrate a device holder. This accessory consists of a small tray placed under the LCD. It offers the possibility to easily access your smartphone or tablet, which is handy, primarily if you use the iConsole+ fitness app.
E25 Assembly and Maintenance
The machine’s drive and resistance come pre-assembled. However, the rest of the parts do require user assembly. You will have to attach the two base bars, the pedal bars, the pedal trays, the front upright mast, the moving arms, the fixed handlebars, and the fitness monitor.
Therefore, it may take more than an hour of your time, but the task is far from difficult. Moreover, the manual provides clear assembly instructions, and all the necessary tools come with the machine. It is also advisable to lubricate the machine’s moving joints during the assembly to ensure they function smoothly and won’t develop any squeaking.
Once assembled, maintenance doesn’t require much. You have to keep the machine clean and inspect it from time to time to ensure that all the parts function correctly. Furthermore, the internal mechanism doesn’t require lubrication.
