15-1345A Frame Construction

Although the Stamina 15-1345A features a two-piece frame, the frame is non-adjustable. The two pieces connect in the middle by several screws. However, the bike’s seat does offer adjustability.

Stamina 15-1345A Recumbent Bike

The frame combines rectangular, oval, and cylindrical steel tubes in its construction. All the steel parts come coated with a rust-resistant grey paint finish. Also, the bike’s body integrates several ABS parts. The most notable ones are the covers of the drive and resistance elements.

The bike is not too large. With all the parts assembled, it is approximately 50″ (127 cm) long and 20.25″ (51 cm) wide, while its highest point (the top of the console) reaches approximately 42″ (107 cm) above the floor. It is also advisable to leave at least two feet of clearance around the bike for easy access and safe usage.

The frame features a step-through design. Thus, it is a plus for users with disabilities. Furthermore, the gap between the bike’s drive unit and the seat offers better entry and exit possibilities, and not all recumbent bikes have this feature.

Last, this Stamina exercise bike is not too heavy, weighing approximately 57.5 lbs (26 kg). Thus, one person can carry and assemble the bike. Plus, its front base has a set of small transport wheels, so the bike is easy to relocate.

Seat and handlebars

The Stamina 15-1345A recumbent bike has a reasonably large seat, similar to the Stamina 1346 model. In addition, its bottom pad is approximately 14″ (35.5 cm) wide, providing plenty of contact surface.

In addition, the backrest and the bottom cushion integrate 2″ (5 cm) of foam padding for improved comfort. Also, the backrest and seat cushion has a durable vinyl covering that is moisture-proof and easy to maintain.

The seat’s backrest does not have a reclining feature and does not adjust independently from the rest of the seat. However, the whole seat assembly is adjustable. In addition, its base rail offers an adjustment span of several inches.

Thus, the bike comfortably accommodates users between 5’1″ and 6’2″ (155 – 187 cm). In addition, it also has a maximum user weight capacity of up to 300 lbs (136 kg).

The bike comes with two sets of handlebars. One attaches to the seat, the other to the front mast of the bike. The front handlebars curve up and integrate metallic HR pulse sensors. Therefore, if you hold on to them, the bike’s monitor can track your pulse.

The seat handlebars do not integrate sensors. Instead, they attach directly to the seat frame. Both handlebars feature long PVC foam sleeves to provide an improved grip. In addition, they are non-adjustable and connect to their corresponding frame pieces via screws.

15-1345A Resistance system

The Stamina 15-1345A comes equipped with a standard manual magnetic resistance system. Therefore, you don’t need an adapter or an external power source. However, on the other hand, the fitness monitor does not adjust the resistance automatically, and there are no pre-set programs.

The bike’s resistance system consists of a magnetic brake integrated into the bike’s flywheel unit and connected to the tension knob. Thus, when you turn the knob, the brake changes its position, moving the magnets closer or farther from the flywheel, increasing or decreasing the pedaling difficulty.

Furthermore, the main advantage of the magnetic brake is that the magnets don’t touch the flywheel. Therefore, the pedaling motion is very smooth and quiet. Plus, there is no wear-and-tear on the brake.

The bike makes available eight levels of resistance. The first tension setting provides a pretty light difficulty level for beginners, warm-ups, or recovery training. The 8th level of resistance delivers considerably more, which is excellent for anyone who wants to quickly achieve a high cardiovascular rate or perform a more consistent workout.

Drive system

Like most other exercise bikes with a magnetic resistance system, the Stamina 15-1345A features a belt drivetrain. It uses a durable poly-v belt for improved traction. As opposed to a chain drive, it does not require periodic lubrication. It also generates less vibration than a chain drive and contributes to the overall smoothness and quietness of the ride.

The bike comes equipped with a pretty sturdy crankset. But since it’s not a spin bike, it’s not for standing on the pedals but for seated workouts only. The crank arms are cylindrical and chrome-plated. The included pedals are made of durable thermoplastic material.

They come equipped with adjustable straps for improved foot stability during pedaling. They are also weighted, so they always self-level when you remove your feet from them.

The bike’s internal flywheel has a balanced structure for improved motion stability. Its exact weight is not specified, but it is not super heavy. Considering that the bike’s net weight is only 57.5 lbs (26 kg), the flywheel probably does not weigh more than 20 lbs (9 kg).

The flywheel is bi-directional. Accordingly, you can pedal in reverse if you want, so you can always put some diversity into your workouts. And when pedaling in reverse, the resistance remains constant, given by the selected tension level. However, coasting is not possible, though.

15-1345A Fitness monitor

Stamina 15-1345A Recumbent Bike

The Stamina 15-1345A recumbent bike includes a reasonably simple fitness monitor. It features an LCD that tracks time, distance, total distance, speed, calories, and pulse. However, it is not telemetric, so it can only track your pulse if you hold on to the HR pulse sensors integrated into the bike’s handlebars.

It also has no RPM function—the speed and distance display in Imperial units (mph and miles). There is no option for setting them to metric units.

Unfortunately, the bike does not have pre-set programs or Bluetooth connectivity. However, you can create workout goals for time, distance, and calories. After choosing a goal for any of these metrics, it will show the remaining value until the goal completion.

The bike’s fitness monitor features three buttons. These are Mode, Set, and Reset. The Mode button allows you to select any workout metrics to view on the LCD or select the Scan Mode.

When selecting the scan mode, all the metrics rotate in a sequence, each appearing on display for a few seconds. Next, the Set button allows you to select workout goals, and finally, the Reset button will enable you to clear all the values on the monitor to zero.

Stamina 15-1345A Recumbent Bike

The battery-powered fitness monitor requires two AAA batteries that do not come with the bike. It automatically turns on when you pedal (or you can wake it up by pressing one of the buttons). Likewise, it automatically turns off to save battery life after 4 minutes of inactivity on the bike. It also integrates a device holder, which consists of a small shelf situated below the LCD.

müüv audio coaching app

This product also includes free access to müüv, the smart audio coaching app. müüv helps you move 500+ minutes per month with the right mix of cardio, strength, and flexibility for a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

You’ll get smart audio coaching that is personalized, progresses for you, and is fun to do. The all-in-one app includes a follow-along assembly video, customized workouts tailored to your equipment, and an ad-free music listening experience from iHeartRadio. Download the müüv app on the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.

15-1345A Assembly and Maintenance

The bike’s resistance system comes pre-assembled and connected to the front part of the frame. The rest of the parts do require user assembly. You’ll have to connect the seat frame section to the front frame section, add the two base stabilizers, the front mast, the front handlebars, the fitness monitor, the pedals, and the seat with its handlebars.

Therefore, it may take more than an hour, but the manual provides clear assembly instructions, and all the assembly tools come with the bike.

For maintenance, you only have to keep the bike clean and wipe the sweat that may fall on the frame at the end of your workout. The internal parts do not require lubrication. It is also advisable to periodically inspect the bike to ensure that all the parts function correctly and that all the bolts hold tight in their places and retighten as needed.

  1. I have been reading several reviews about the 1345A. I am pleased to learn that it is mechanically perfect. However, a concern arose in many reviews about the body design and alignment needing some work. So, I will remove the pedals. Also, remove the rubber grommets, sand, or file the interior lip flush. But, it seems to solve any issue.

  2. Thanks for the breathtaking review. Not only does the equipment displayed help in weight loss, but they do a great job in muscle building. I have only used such equipment in some gyms that I have visited, but I have always loved the idea of purchasing one of my own and using it at home. Some of the equipment helped me over the years even though I had to use them 2 or 3 times a week, but the results are always extraordinary. Now imagine getting one for your home and using it whenever you feel like it. It can do wonders for your health. Thanks Again.

  3. Thank you so much for your honest opinion on this bike. I have been doing a lot of research for an at-home bike, and this review is phenomenal! You have answered all my questions and then some, but I still have one more.

I am 5’6, and my husband is 6’2. Do you think this bike will accommodate both of us?

    • Hi Kirstie, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. Yes, you both will fit the bike just fine. It has a user rating of 5’1″ to 6’2″.

Would you please let me know if I may further assist you with exercise equipment? I’m always happy to help.

  4. I like this review about the Recumbent bike. The last time I used one of these, I was doing Physio for my injured back. The upright seat helped, and the handlebar position closer to your legs was ideally better than the upright bikes they tried to make me use.

It would be interesting to see if those bikes ever got upgraded, as I’m sure these styles would replace those in a heartbeat…
