SF-E3875 Frame and parts
The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-E3875 features a frame made of steel tubing with heavy-duty construction. With all the parts assembled, it weighs approximately 189.6 lbs (86 kg); thus, it takes two people to carry the machine.
However, on the other hand, all this weight is reflected in its overall stability. Plus, its four adjustable and rubberized levelers enhance its stability.
Despite its weight, once assembled, it is relatively easy to move. Its front base has two large rubberized wheels, while its rear tube features a lifting handle. Therefore, you won’t have to handle more than 30% of its total weight by lifting it from its grip and using the front wheels.
The machine’s metallic base is a one-piece element. Due to this aspect, the machine provides superior sturdiness. It also has a dual rail system for the pedals, which leads to better stability and a sure-footed feeling during pedaling.
The steel bars in this Sunny elliptical trainer’s frame construction come coated with a durable powder finish resistant to chipping and corrosion.
The top metallic covers of the rails are an exception, though. They are aluminum materials, and they’re not powder coated. The front covers of the drive and resistance elements are ABS material; this also stands for the pedals.
The Sunny SF-E3875 is a relatively large unit. When fully set up, it is approx. 63″ (157 cm) long and 26″ (66 cm) wide, while its highest point is the top of its moving arms, which reach approx. 70″ (178 cm) above floor level. Thus, it would be best if you assigned a usage area for it of at least 110″ x 70″ (280 x 178 cm).
The machine has two sets of handlebars, one mobile and one fixed. The mobile handlebars feature extended, curved, and ball grips at the top. The fixed handlebars weld directly to the front main mast; they offer a horizontal grip. They also integrate metallic sensors for heart rate detection.
Stride, elliptical path, and step-up height
First of all, Sunny SF-E3875 does not have an incline system. Therefore, the elliptical path and the stride length are not adjustable. However, the machine offers a stride length of approx 19.5″ (49.5 cm). Consequently, it should accommodate users up to 6’2 ″ – 6’3 ″ (188 – 190 cm) with no problem, promoting a complete range of motion.
The pedals can support users up to 300 lbs (136 kg). They are made of durable ABS material and attached to heavy-duty steel bars. Also, they have a textured surface for improved adherence and inner borders for extra foot stability.
They integrate a double-wheel system each for superior stability. In addition, the integrated wheels feature industrial-grade ball bearings for smooth motion over the rails.
This elliptical path of this Sunny cross-trainer is slightly inclined forward. Thus, the pedaling motion feels like descending on a very soft ramp. Therefore, it focuses on the glutes but delivers a consistent workout for multiple muscles.
At their lowest position, the pedals are at approx. 10″ (25 cm) above floor level. Conversely, their highest position is approx. 16″ (40 cm) above floor level. Therefore, placing and using the machine in a room with a ceiling at least 20″ (51 cm) higher than your height is advisable.
SF-E3875 Drive and resistance
The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-E3875 elliptical machine integrates a pretty heavy flywheel. Its exact weight is not specified, but it should be at least 20 lbs (9 kg), considering the machine’s overall weight. The flywheel has a balanced structure to deliver smooth motion and a consistent pedaling feel.
It is also bi-directional, allowing you to pedal in reverse if you focus on other muscle groups.
This Sunny elliptical trainer uses a poly-v belt for its transmission. Therefore, its drivetrain does not require any periodic lubrication. It also produces considerably less vibration than a chain drive, and the usage of the machine is almost entirely silent.
The Sunny SF-E3875 features a motorized magnetic resistance system. Its main internal resistance elements are a small servo motor and a magnetic brake integrated into the flywheel assembly. Unfortunately, the motor changes the brake’s magnetic pull when adjusting the resistance, leading to pedaling difficulty.
The resistance can only adjust from the fitness monitor, and the unit requires a connection to a power source. A power adapter comes with the machine. Also, some of the programs on the monitor automatically adjust the resistance.
The trainer’s resistance system offers 16 distinct difficulty levels. The first few provide little pedaling difficulty, making them great for recovery training. Conversely, the 15-16 levels considerably increase the pedal tension, allowing you to burn more calories, reach a higher pulse rate in a shorter time, and benefit from a more consistent workout overall.
Fitness monitor
This Sunny elliptical trainer includes the same fitness monitor as the SF-E3862. It’s a mid-range monitor that provides a set of built-in programs. Unfortunately, it does not have Bluetooth or online capabilities.
The monitor has an LCD with a 6-inch diagonal and a blue LED backlight, improving the shown data’s readability. In addition, it tracks the most crucial workout metrics, including time, distance, total distance, speed, RPM, watts, calories, heart rate, and target heart rate.
The monitor is not telemetric, which means it can only read your pulse through the sensors integrated into the fixed handgrips. Unfortunately, it cannot communicate with any wireless HR transmitters. In addition, the speed and distance are also in Imperial MPH and miles; there is no option to set the monitor to metric units.
SF-E3875 Workout Programs
There are 24 workout programs available on the machine’s fitness monitor, from P1 to P24. The P1 program is the Manual mode. This program allows you to exercise freely, adjusting the resistance throughout your session. It also allows you to set workout goals for time, distance, and burned calories.
The programs from P2 to P13 are preset. Each has 12 profiles, and you can select up to 16 resistance levels for each. The P14 program is for Watt Control. It allows you to select a target value for your Watt output.
The P15 program is a Body Fat calculator. It will prompt you to input your height, weight, age, and gender, and based on this data, the monitor can calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI).
The P16 – P20 are HR-based programs. They require you to use HR pulse sensors. P16 is a Target Heart Rate program. It allows you to select a parameter for your heart rate, and the monitor will notify you if your pulse falls below your target. The P17-P20 programs are Heart Rate Control programs with preset HRC targets at 55%, 65%, 75%, and 85%.
During any of these programs, the monitor will auto-adjust the resistance. For example, it adds intensity if your pulse falls below the selected heart rate or reduces the resistance if you exceed the desired heart rate.
Finally, the P21-P24 are Custom User programs. You can create separate workout profiles and input user data (age, weight, height, etc.) for each. Additionally, each custom program can be saved and reused as often as possible.
SF-E3875 Assembly and Maintenance
This elliptical trainer’s drive and resistance elements come pre-assembled, forming the unit’s main body. Also, the base of the trainer is a one-piece element. Therefore, the assembly’s primary step is to connect these two elements, then add the moving arms, the pedals, and the fitness monitor.
Consequently, it may take up to one hour of your time. However, it’s far from being a complicated task. Each assembly step is evident in the manual; an essential toolkit comes with the machine.
Internal maintenance is not necessary for this machine. Its joints may need lubrication from time to time, though. Also, keep the pedal bars’ rails clean, inspect the machine for loose parts, and retighten as needed.

Hello there! This is a detailed review of the elliptical trainer. I am a big fan of using the elliptical machine whenever I work out. You burn a pretty good amount of calories, and it’s also very light on the knees, which is fantastic. I currently have a cheap one at home that is near breaking down from overuse. Perhaps when it does fully break down and is no longer functional, I might try using this brand that you suggest. Thanks for creating this.
Hi Mike, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. When you’re ready to replace the elliptical you have, let me know, and I’d be happy to give you some recommendations.

Hi. Thanks for this article. It was a pleasure reading it!
Ellipticals have always been one of the best exercises for me when I used to go to the gym with a couple of friends. We would put on some music and enjoy it for about 20-30 minutes every time. Looking back, that was a lot of time! I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Best regards,
Dominique

Elliptical trainers are always my go-to machine of choice when I need to give my knees a break from the long runs that I enjoy. The low-impact aspect is beneficial and significant because it helps me recover faster but still get a good cardio workout. I did not see any prices in the review. How much would one of these set me back?
Hi Al, thanks for stopping by. There are affiliate links throughout the review for checking the current price. I do this because of the manufacturing price changes. Today’s current price is $856.99. Would you please let me know if I can be of further assistance?
Kind regards, Robert
I started working out at home since the gyms shut down early last year. I have begun to enjoy doing my own workouts, and I am trying to set up my workout corner to have the equipment to give me a complete workout. I have been surviving on YouTube guided exercises, but I now feel that I should go into more meaningful programs as I don’t intend to go back to the gym. I like this elliptical machine. Besides seeming right for me, I like the features that make it moveable, that allow the use of preset programs, that the surface is resistant to corrosion, and that it is quiet. Thank you for this detailed review and the tips included.
