SF-RB4876 Frame Construction
The Sunny SF-RB4876 recumbent bike features a steel frame combining rectangular and cylindrical tubes in its construction. In addition, all the steel parts come with a corrosion-resistant gray paint finish.
The drive and resistance element covers are ABS plastic, gray to match the rest of the bike, and the “Sunny” logo in red.
Although it’s not as significant as other fitness machines, such as treadmills, the Sunny SF-RB4876 bike takes up a lot of space. It is approximately 56.7″ (144 cm) long and 26.6″ (68 cm) wide. Furthermore, leaving at least two feet of clearance is advisable to ease access.
In addition, the bike is not too heavy. Its net weight is approx. 51.85 lbs (23.5 kg). Thus, it can be carried and assembled by only one person. Plus, it’s easily moved once completed, as its front base stabilizer has small wheels. Conversely, the rear base stabilizer features a polygonal knob that rotates to serve as a leveler.
The bike’s main chassis is a one-piece part instead of like some other recumbent bikes with a 2-piece frame. The one-piece frame contributes to the bike’s overall sturdiness. Also, the seat has two upright support bars instead of only one.
One last aspect to note regards the bike’s step-through design. This feature can be quite a plus for users with disabilities as it allows easier entry and exit.
Seat and handlebars
The Sunny SF-RB4876 recumbent bike comes equipped with a cushioned seat. The backrest and bottom pads feature approximately 1.5″ (3.8 cm) foam padding for improved comfort. Their covers are durable double-stitched vinyl, black, and silver for enhanced aesthetics.
The seat pad is approximately 16.9″ (43 cm) wide and 11.8″ (30 cm) long, which is pretty significant for a light-capacity bike, so it provides plenty of contact surface. However, even though the seat’s base frame features two upright support bars, its weight capacity is only 220 lbs (100 kg).
The bike’s seat is adjustable. In addition, its base rail offers an adjustment span of approximately 9″ (23 cm) for users with an inseam between 26″ and 35″ (66 – 89 cm). Thus, the bike should accommodate users between 5’2″ and 6’5″ (157 – 196 cm), allowing a complete leg extension.
It’s also important to note that the bike’s seat adjustment system involves a turn-knob. Therefore, it is advisable to adjust the seat while not seated.
The Sunny SF-RB4876 recumbent bike has two handlebars. One attaches to the seat assembly, and the other to the front mast. The seat handlebars feature extended grips parallel to the seat cushion. In addition, they have integrated metallic HR pulse sensors. Unfortunately, the included fitness monitor is not telemetric and cannot read pulse using a wireless HR chest strap.
The front handlebars attach directly to the front mast of the bike via screws. In addition, they are non-adjustable, and they do not integrate pulse sensors. Furthermore, they are curved upward to provide a parallel grip.
Also, since the front upright mast of the bike is curved towards the user, holding the front handlebars during workouts does not lead to an awkward position, as is the case for some other recumbent bikes.
SF-RB4876 Resistance system
The Sunny SF-RB4876 recumbent bike features a magnetic resistance system with manual action. Therefore, you don’t need an external power source or an adapter. Unfortunately, the cycle cannot automatically adjust the resistance, and the included fitness monitor does not have workout programs.
The bike’s resistance system consists of an internal magnetic brake that connects to the tension dial on the front mast through a steel cable. As you turn the dial, the brake moves closer or farther from the flywheel, which adds to or reduces the pedaling resistance.
The brake makes available eight distinct tension levels. This first level provides a very light pedaling difficulty, which is excellent for users that require recovery training. On the other hand, the 7-8 levels give considerably more resistance, perfect for anyone who wants to burn more calories and improve their stamina.
The Sunny SF-RB4876 recumbent bike features a belt drive system similar to other magnetic resistance exercise bikes. It uses a durable poly-v belt for its internal transmission, so you don’t have to lubricate the drivetrain. Also, the belt contributes to the overall smoothness of the ride.
The bike’s internal flywheel is perimeter-weighted for improved inertia. However, its exact weight is not specified, but since the bike’s overall weight is only 51.8 lbs (23.5 kg), the flywheel probably does not exceed 20 lbs (9 kg).
The flywheel is bi-directional, allowing for pedaling in reverse. Unlike a road bike, this exercise bike does not permit coasting. Therefore, when pedaling in reverse, you will get the same resistance as when pedaling forward.
This Sunny exercise bike comes with a durable crankset, but it is meant for seated workouts since it’s not a spin bike. The included pedals are made of durable thermoplastic material.
They are self-leveling, so they always turn face-up if you remove your feet from them. In addition, they also come equipped with adjustable straps for improved foot stability during pedaling.
SF-RB4876 Fitness monitor
As I’ve mentioned, the included fitness monitor does not have pre-set workout programs. However, it does have a few more features than the average simple model. It has an LCD that tracks time, distance, total distance, speed, calories, and pulse.
The speed and distance are in MPH and miles; there is no option for changing them to metric units.
Unfortunately, the monitor is not telemetric. If you hold on to the integrated HR pulse sensors, they can track your pulse. However, it cannot communicate with a wireless HR chest strap like the Polar or ANT+ models.
The fitness monitor features the standard 3-button keypad. The Mode button allows you to scroll through the workout values and select the one you want to view on display. It also offers the possibility to choose the Scan Mode, which rotates all the values showing each one for 6 seconds.
The Set button covers the target setting function. It allows you to select a workout target for time, distance, and calories. When a target is assigned, the monitor counts from zero to the desired value. And finally, the Reset button clears all the monitor values except the odometer, which only resets if you remove the batteries.
The monitor, including the bike, requires two AAA batteries as its power source. It starts when you press one of the buttons or begin pedaling. In addition, it also automatically turns off after 4 minutes of inactivity on the bike.
The device holder and the heart rate zone sticker are two other notable features. The device holder consists of a small shelf placed above the LCD, and it is large enough to accommodate most tablets and smartphones. Unfortunately, the monitor does not have a USB or other ports to connect your device.
The HR sticker is a nice touch if you want to keep it in a specific BPM zone without consulting the manual.
SF-RB4876 Assembly and Maintenance
The bike’s drive mechanism comes pre-assembled and attached to the base frame with the covers already in place. So you only have to connect the two base stabilizers, the seat, the handlebars, the pedals, and the fitness monitor.
Consequently, it shouldn’t take more than an hour of your time. The task is relatively simple, and the manual provides all the necessary instructions. An essential toolkit also comes with the bike.
Once assembled, you don’t have to worry too much about maintenance. The internal parts and the drive train don’t require any lubrication. So, you only have to keep the bike clean and periodically check for loose bolts or parts and retighten or replace them as needed.

Thanks for the great product review. The Sunny SF-RB4876 Recumbent Bike is a great product for me. I like the cushioned seat and the backrest. It is the kind of bike that I could spend hours exercising. The lightweight will allow me to carry it with me every time I need to travel away for a few days. (I am a salesman) I also find this to be a good product for obese people and people with balance difficulties. This is because of the low level of the seat that makes it easy for them to get on it and exercise.
Hello Nektarios, thanks for taking the time to share with us. Do you currently have a recumbent bike? If not, I am always happy to help if you are interested in getting one for yourself.
Thanks for posting. I believe that this is one of the most detailed post reviews I have seen. The bike has excellent value, mainly due to limited gyms access due to Covid-19. We need to have our gym equipment at home.
But I found only one link to the product purchase in your article. It would better to insert links in the bike pictures as people always tend to click on images; I tried to do that😀. Thanks
Hello Edward, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the review. There are links to the product beneath the images. However, I understand how they can be overlooked. Thanks for your suggestion about making the images product links as well.
Warmest regards, Robert
This bike looks so exciting, and I appreciate how thoroughly you explain and analyze this bike. I have been looking for another way to get my exercise, and this bike looks great because there is no need to travel to the gym every day. This bike looks like it has all of the things you could want in a bike as it has all of the technology you could want in a bike for a reasonable one-time payment.
Hi Nicholas, thanks for stopping by. Would you please let me know if I can assist in any way? I’d be happy to help.
Kind regards, Robert
You certainly have given a detailed review of this exercise bike. At 51 pounds, it is certainly something that will be easy to move once it’s assembled. As I get older, I am looking for lower-impact ways to do cardio. Walking is good, but it takes quite a while to get the heart rate up and a lot of sustained walking to have any effect. I have a treadmill suitable for days I can’t go outside. This kind of bike seems like it would take less time to get the heart rate up and keep it up. It certainly is low impact. Thanks for this review. You have given me a lot to think about.
Hi Anastazja, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. Would you please let me know if I may further assist you with exercise equipment? I’m always happy to help.

This is a constructive review of the Sunny SF-RB4876 recumbent bike. I have been considering getting an exercise bike, as I want to exercise while watching television. It is great to see that the bike’s drive mechanism comes pre-assembled, making it much easier for anybody to assemble.
I would, however, prefer to have pre-set workout programs in the fitness monitor. So I will explore other options on your website to see if I like an alternative.
