This Assault Fitness AirBike Elite bike gives you the closest to a gym or box experience you can have from home. With a solid steel frame and cranks, corrosion resistance, and a solid aluminum seat post and slider, there is no question that this bike will go for years. Designed for strength, durability, and hardcore use, you will return daily for more burn.
Engineered with an upgraded design, the Elite intensifies resistance when pedaling faster and provides upper and lower body isolation. In addition, Assault Fitness has equipped this bike to pedal forward or backward for more workout variation.
The 27″ flywheel on the Assault Fitness AirBike Elite encases flat air blades that rotate as you move the pedals. The harder you pedal and pull the handlebars, the faster the air blades move, which increases resistance. The AirBike Elite uses a chain drive system that connects the pedals to the flywheel hub.
The AirBike Elite saddle is wider than the Classic model and has additional padding. Like all bike saddles, it is not the most comfortable seat you’ll ever sit on, but this one is a step up for training. In addition, the AirBike Elite features flat metal pedals with small cleats along the edges for proper foot grip. Make sure you have a solid foot placement with the ball of the foot connecting with the pedal for maximum power.

Elite Frame Construction
The Assault Fitness AirBike Elite features a thick steel tubing heavy-duty frame. In addition, most of the bike’s frame construction tubes are precision-welded and oval for improved sturdiness and aesthetics.
All the steel parts come double-coated with a corrosion-resistant and abrasion-resistant metallic gray paint finish for the main body, black for the base tubes, and several other small parts. The seat post is extruded aluminum. The bike also integrates several plastic components, such as caps and covers.
With all the parts assembled, it is approximately 55″ (140 cm) long and 26.2″ (66 cm) wide. Therefore, allowing at least two feet (61 cm) of clearance around the bike is advisable for easy access and safe usage. Also, its highest point is approx—55″ (140 cm) above the floor.
Like most commercial-grade air bikes, the Assault AirBike Elite is pretty heavy, weighing 138.8 lbs (63 kg). Thus, two people should transport the boxed unit. However, once assembled, one person can quickly relocate the bike as its front stabilizer integrates a set of transport wheels.
Due to the bike’s impressive weight, stability shouldn’t be an issue. In addition, it has a low center of gravity, and its stabilizers have adjustable levelers.
Seat and handlebars
The Assault Fitness AirBike Elite has a four-way adjustable seat (up, down, front, back). In addition, its vertical post offers 12 adjustment positions, while its horizontal slider has eight adjustment positions. Thus, the bike comfortably accommodates users between 5’1″ and 6’5″ (155 – 196 cm). It is also quite solid, having a maximum user weight limit of 350 lbs (159 kg).
The included saddle has a pretty standard construction. Its inner shell is a durable nylon material, with a foam padding layer between the shell and the top cover. In addition, its top is also high-density foam. The seat is also pretty comprehensive, providing plenty of contact surface. However, it does not have contouring and a median cutout like a spin bike saddle.
Like most other air resistance exercise bikes, the Assault Elite bike does not have a fixed handlebar, only the two mobile ones. Instead, they connect to the crankset via two angled steel bars and pivoting elements. Therefore, they do not remain stationary. Instead, they will move as long as you pedal or the flywheel is spinning.
The bike comes with standard grips featuring urethane covers for improved contact. However, Assault Fitness offers several grip options. It’s important to note that none of them integrate pulse sensors. So, the fitness monitor can only read your pulse if you wear a wireless HR chest strap or armband. Unfortunately, these accessories are sold separately.
Elite Resistance system
The Assault Fitness AirBike Elite is an exercise bike equipped with an air resistance system. It does not have any magnetic resistance elements, and it is not motorized. Therefore, you don’t need to connect it to a power source, and you don’t need an adapter for it.
The main resistance element is the giant 27-inch wheel visible at the front of the bike. Its construction is similar to a road bike wheel. However, several spokes on it have steel plates attached to improve drag. Therefore, when you pedal and move the arms, the wheel spins in its casing generating resistance.
The bike does not have any resistance adjustment. However, it provides a dynamic response similar to other fitness machines with an air resistance system. Thus, the resistance depends on the RPM. Therefore, the faster you pedal, the more resistance you will get.
Last but not least, the bike is pretty quiet. However, you can hear the fan if you pedal at a high RPM. Therefore, you can compare the noise level to the one generated by a large electric fan.
Drive system
The Assault Fitness AirBike Elite has a heavy-duty crankset with oval steel arms, and the pedals are also a durable metallic alloy. Unfortunately, they do not have toe cages or SPD elements. However, they have standard threads to find compatible replacements in any bike shop.
The bike comes with a dual-chain drive system. It has two pulleys. One is the main crank pulley, and the other is the intermediary, placed slightly lower than the main one. The two pulleys connect via a short chain. In addition, the intermediary pulley assembly connects to the bike’s flywheel.
This dual-chain system provides extra consistency to the ride. In addition, a chain drive system can last a lifetime with proper care and lubrication.
An important aspect to note here is the bike’s Q-Factor: the spacing between the pedals. This bike’s Q—Factor is approximately 200 mm (7.8″), which is vast. Therefore, the cycle may not be the best choice for anyone with bad knees, as the pedaling motion will result in extra lateral stress on both the knees and ankles.
Elite Fitness monitor
The Assault Fitness AirBike Elite has a standard HIIT fitness monitor. In addition, it has an LCD that divides into seven sub-sections to view up to 7 workout metrics at once without using a scan function.
It tracks time, distance, speed, calories, watts, RPM, and pulse. The speed and distance can display in either English or metric readings, and the monitor has a quick key. You must wear a Bluetooth or ANT+ HR chest strap for the heart rate function. Unfortunately, this accessory does not come with the bike.
The fitness monitor has Bluetooth connectivity, which only applies to pulse readings. Therefore, it is incompatible with fitness apps like Peloton, Zwift, etc. Nonetheless, there are several built-in workout programs.
The battery-operated fitness monitor requires four AA batteries that do not come with the bike. It starts up when you begin working or press the Start button. It also automatically enters its sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity. In addition, it also has a clock function that displays when the monitor is in sleep mode.
Workout programs
There are three interval programs. These are 20/10, 10/20, and custom. The numbers suggest that the work period is 20 seconds for the first interval program, while the rest is 10 seconds.
For the 10/20 interval, the work duration is 10 seconds, while the rest is 20 seconds. Of course, for the custom interval program, you can set up your desired values for both the work and the rest intervals.
Next are four target programs; you can select a workout target or goal for time, distance, calories, and heart rate. When choosing a time, distance, or calorie target, the monitor will countdown from the selected target until it reaches zero.
When choosing a goal for heart rate, it will prompt you to increase or decrease your work intensity to keep you within the selected heart rate interval. In addition, of course, the HR program requires you to wear an HR chest strap.
Finally, there is a Comp Program (or competition program). It works similarly to the other target programs, but some differences exist. For example, if the goal is time, the timer will count down, while if the goal is calories or distance, the timer will count up.
Elite Assembly and Maintenance
The bike’s main body comes pre-assembled. Therefore, you only have to attach the base bars, the monitor post, the fitness monitor, the saddle, the moving arms, the pedal bars, and the pedals.
Therefore, it shouldn’t take more than an hour of your time. The task is straightforward, and the manual provides pretty clear assembly instructions. All the necessary tools for it come with the bike.
Since the bike’s drive system integrates a chain, it requires periodic lubrication. Therefore, standard chain oil is the best choice for it. It’s also advisable to periodically check for loose bolts and parts and re-tighten them.

I have always found the AirBikes bulky and not easy to store. However, it is an excellent way to achieve your daily cardio. Therefore, it would help those with a little extra pounds lose a lot of weight from hours of riding.
Not having a place to put a water bottle can be a con, but I would prefer to keep the equipment dry and avoid rust over time.
It is a good piece of equipment that I would use if I had the space.
