SLFTRD20 Frame Construction

The SereneLife SLFTRD20 treadmill features a reasonably light construction. It only weighs approximately 60 lbs (27.2 kg) with all the parts assembled.

Thus, one person can carry and build the machine. Plus, once completed, you can move it even easier because its front base frame features transport wheels.

The machine’s frame is steel tubing, combining oval, cylindrical, and rectangular bars in its construction. All the steel bars come coated with a black chip-resistant and rust-resistant paint finish.

Also, the treadmill has several parts of durable thermoplastic material in its construction. The most notable ones cover the side rail, the motor’s cover, and the console dashboard.

The fully assembled treadmill is not too large. Its footprint is approx. 50.8″ x 24″ (100 x 61 cm), while its highest point is the top of the console, which reaches approx. 49.2″ (125 cm) above floor level. It is advisable to leave at least two feet of clearance on each side of the treadmill and at least three feet at the rear to ease access and safe usage.

Like similar light-capacity treadmills for home use, the SereneLife SLFTRD20 has a folding frame. In addition, its deck can fold up to save space. The unit’s folded dimensions are 25.2″L x 24″W x 49.2″H (64L x 61W x 125H cm). Also, the folding mechanism uses a hydraulic cylinder to unfold the deck to prevent damage slowly.

Deck construction and incline

The SereneLife SLFTRD20 doesn’t offer a super large working area. Its belt dimensions are 39.3″L x 15.7″W (100 x 40 cm). However, it is a walking treadmill for home use to fit most walking workouts. Its internal deck board is durable, with a maximum user weight capacity of 265 lbs (120 kg).

The belt is multi-layered, and its top layer is rubberized to provide a superior grip. The internal rollers integrate high-grade ball bearings for a smooth motion. They also come crowned to improve the lifespan of the belt.

The machine’s deck does not have the significant cushioning elements of other, more expensive treadmills. However, its deck does integrate several small shock absorption elements. The deck board itself also has a bit of flex. Therefore, a walk or jog on this SereneLife treadmill is a low impact on your joints.

The unit’s incline system has two adjustable “feet” attached to the deck’s rear part. They have three adjustment positions each. In addition, you can lock them in the desired position via a removable metallic pin.

It is important to note that the deck is not perfectly horizontal when the rear feet’ pins are at the highest position. Although this shouldn’t affect your workout much, it will add a bit of difficulty to your workout.

The height of the step-up deck is approximately 6.5″ (17 cm) when the rear stabilizers are unfolded (or locked in the highest position). Therefore, using the treadmill in a room with a ceiling at least 10″ (25 cm) taller than the tallest user is advisable.

SLFTRD20 Drive motor

The SereneLife SLFTRD20 treadmill is a machine for home use designed for walking and light jogging. Therefore, it does not have a super powerful motor like commercial-grade treadmills or those made for running. Instead, it integrates a 1.0 HP motor featuring a small flywheel for motion stability.

The unit’s motor has a speed range between 0.6 and 6.0 MPH. The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH to adjust at your pace. In addition, the console offers gradual speed adjustment and a quick selection of 2 MPH, 3 MPH, 4 MPH, 5 MPH, and 6 MPH.

The console also has several pre-set workout programs that adjust the speed automatically. The speed adjustment increments used by the console programs are 0.5 MPH. However, the transition is still pretty smooth, so you will get plenty of time to adjust your pace.

Since the treadmill has a light-capacity motor, you won’t have to worry about high electricity bills. Also, the noise level generated by the motor is pretty low. However, your cadence will still create sound, especially if using the highest speed setting and depending on your running technique, footwear, weight, and other factors.

Console

The console included with the SereneLife SLFTRD20 treadmill offers a fairly decent range of features. It has an LCD with a blue LED backlight for improved readability. In addition, it tracks time, distance, speed, calories burned, and heart rate.

The speed is shown in MPH, while the distance is in kilometers. The pulse reading function is grip contact only. Therefore, the console can only read your pulse if you hold on to the metallic sensors integrated into the machine’s side grips. Unfortunately, it cannot read your pulse from a wireless HR chest strap or armband.

There are 12 pre-set programs available on the console. They have their segment grids engraved on the console on each side of the display. As mentioned, they adjust the speed in increments of 0.5 MPH.

They have various layouts; some offer an interval workout, others gradually increase and decrease the speed, and others have a somewhat random structure. There is also the possibility of creating workout goals for time and distance.

The console has Bluetooth connectivity and is compatible with the FitShow app, available for Android and iOS. Once you have this app installed on your phone, the treadmill will send your workout data to the app so you can keep track of your progress, review your workout history, share it via social media, etc.

The console doesn’t have speakers or a workout fan but integrates a device holder with a long shelf under the display. In addition, the console dashboard has two large bottle/device trays, one on each side of the LCD.

SLFTRD20 Assembly and Maintenance

The machine’s deck comes pre-assembled with the belt, motor, and incline elements. Then, you only have to attach the machine’s two upright bars, the handlebars, and the console. Therefore, it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes of your time. All the necessary tools come with the machine, and the manual provides precise assembly instructions.

For maintenance, deck lubrication is necessary after the first 25 hours of use and after every 50 hours. A bottle of lubricant comes with the machine. Other than this, keeping the machine clean, especially the belt, periodically checking for loose bolts and parts, and retightening as necessary are advisable.

  1. I was playing the SIMS4, and my sim was running on a treadmill and fell, LOL. I have been spending way too much time sitting in front of my PC. It was like a revelation. Get up, get some fresh air!

I just came back, and I have been looking at reviews of Treadmills. I have bookmarked your site, so you were one of my first options. Thanks for this review. I like the speed range between 0.6 and 6.0 MPH. It would have me sweating fast!

  2. I think that home training is the way of the future, and I love that you can fold this treadmill away when not in use; even better, it has hydraulic folding that can save your back. I love treadmill work as I can zone out while jogging, but I think it could be a little annoying that my tablet will cover some of the LCD. But other than that, this is a great machine and one that I would consider when looking to purchase.

    Thanks for the great review.
