Sunny Pro II SF-B1995 Indoor Cycling Bike | 40-Pound Flywheel

The Sunny Pro II, SF-B1995 Indoor Cycling Bike, is an upgraded version of Sunny Pro SF-B901. It has a similar construction, the same type of resistance, and the same weight capacity. However, the SF-1995 includes a belt drive system, a pulse reading function, and a fitness monitor that tracks all the essential workout metrics.

The SF-B1995 features a massive 40 lb perimeter-weighted flywheel, creating more momentum for smoother, quieter workouts. Sunny Health and Fitness’s Flywheel is second to none regarding stability, sturdiness, and quality. In addition, the Pro II comes equipped with a quiet and smooth dual-felt fabric brake pad system, continuing the original’s signature resistance system.

The Sunny Pro II SF-B1995 has a fitness monitor that tracks all the essential metrics Speed, Distance, Time, Calories Burned, Odometer, RPM, Pulse, and Scan. However, the monitor is not telemetric, meaning it can only read your pulse if you hold on to the handlebars’ integrated HR pulse sensors.

The SF-B1995 has a 4-way adjustable seat (up, down, front, back). Its vertical post has several adjustment positions, so the bike should accommodate users between 5’0 ″ and 6’5 ″ (153 – 196 cm), allowing a complete leg extension. The Pro II features a multi-grip handlebar. It offers the possibility to adopt a standard grip, a racing grip, a climbing grip, and an aero grip.

SF-B1995 Frame Construction

The Sunny Pro II SF-B1995 indoor cycling bike features a standard triangular frame of durable rectangular steel tubing. The fully assembled bike is quite heavy, weighing 101 lbs (46 kg), more than twice the average mountain bike’s weight. However, all this weight delivers superior stability. In addition, both base bars of the bike comes equipped with adjustable stabilizers.

Sunny Pro II SF-B1995 Indoor Cycling Bike

Despite its weight, the bike is relatively easy to move once assembled. Its front base bar has two large silicone wheels, facilitating its relocation.

The bike cannot fold in any way but does not have an enormous footprint. With all the parts assembled, it is only 49.5″ (126 cm) long and 20″ (51 cm) wide. However, leaving at least two feet of clearance all around it is advisable for easy access and safe usage.

Although all the frame parts are steel, the bike does integrate several ABS plastic parts. For example, the belt cover, the flywheel lateral covers, and several other small covers are plastic-made.

Also, all the steel parts in the bike’s construction come coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The colors used are gray for the mainframe and black for the seat and handlebar posts. The flywheel, on the other hand, is chrome-plated.

One last aspect is the small horizontal bar connecting the seat tube with the main oblique tube. This bar can be a step-up element. It can also serve as support for stretches and other exercises. Not all bikes have this feature, so it’s a plus.

Seat and handlebars

The Sunny Pro II SF-B1995 indoor cycling bike has a four-way adjustable seat (up, down, front, back). In addition, its vertical post has several adjustment positions, while its horizontal slider offers a few extra inches of fore/aft adjustment. Therefore, the bike should accommodate users between 5’0 ″ and 6’5 ″ (153 – 196 cm), allowing a complete leg extension.

The included saddle is a pretty standard one. However, it is a bit larger than the average race seat. It’s 10.5″ (26.7 cm) long and 7.75″ (19.6 cm) wide. Its top combines polyurethane and vinyl element. In addition, it integrates a thin layer of padding for extra comfort. Furthermore, it also has a longitudinal groove for improved breathability.

The seat’s attachment system is also important to mention that the seat’s attachment system is collar-type and attaches to the slider by a bolt and nut. This attachment system is standard, so compatible options are widely available if you need to replace the seat.

The SF-B1995 indoor cycling bike features a multi-grip handlebar. It offers the possibility to adopt a standard grip, a racing grip, a climbing grip, and an aero grip. Its aero bars are long, so you can comfortably rest your elbows to reduce your wrists’ impact. In addition, the side grips integrate HR pulse sensors, and the included fitness monitor has a pulse reading function.

The bike’s handlebar is only two-way adjustable (up, down). In addition, it does not have a horizontal slider.

SF-B1995 Drive system

As I’ve mentioned, the Sunny Pro II SF-B1995 indoor cycling bike has a belt drive system. This type of drivetrain comes with several advantages. First, it generates less vibration than a chain and contributes to the ride’s smoothness. Second, the pedaling motion is tranquil. And finally, it doesn’t require lubrication like a chain.

The bike has a heavy, 40-lb (18 kg) flywheel. It is chrome-plated and has red ABS side panels for improved aesthetics. In addition, it has a perimeter-weighted structure for improved inertia, which is essential for spinning.

The flywheel is bi-directional. Therefore, it allows reverse pedaling. However, like most exercise bikes, coasting is not possible. Instead, the pedals continue to spin for as long as the flywheel is spinning.

Resistance system

The Sunny Pro II SF-B1995 indoor cycling bike has a dual-pad friction resistance system. Thus, its brake is similar to a standard bike brake; only the contact area of the pads has a layer of felt material, not rubber.

Sunny Pro II SF-B1995 Indoor Cycling Bike

The brake is attached to the turn knob on the bike frame. For example, when turning this knob clockwise, the brake tightens onto the flywheel, increasing the pedaling difficulty.

The bike’s resistance system is infinite, so no tension levels are marked on the adjustment knob. Instead, you tighten it until you get the desired pedaling difficulty. The brake also features a press-down lever. You can instantly stop the flywheel from spinning by pressing this down, necessary if you’ve been pedaling at a very high speed.

Last but not least, the bike comes equipped with a heavy-duty crankset. As a result, it has a maximum user weight capacity of 275 lbs (125 kg), which also applies to the pedals. Therefore, if you don’t exceed this weight, you should be able to pedal while standing up with no problem.

The pedals are made of aluminum alloy. They integrate non-slip elements and feature adjustable toe cages. Unfortunately, they don’t have SPD elements for spin shoes, but their threads are standard (9/16), so you can always replace them.

SF-B1995 Fitness monitor

This Sunny Pro II SF-B1995 indoor cycling bike has a fitness monitor. However, it does not have pre-set workout programs, online connectivity, or goal settings. Instead, it features an LCD (without a backlight) that indicates time, distance, total distance (odometer), speed, RPM, calories, and pulse.

The speed and distance are in Imperial units only (MPH and miles). As for pulse reading, the console is unfortunately not telemetric, which means it can only read your pulse if you hold on to the integrated HR pulse sensors. Thus, it cannot communicate with a wireless HR chest strap.

The monitor features only one button (MODE). By pressing this button repeatedly, you can scroll through the workout metrics and select the one you want to view. In addition, you can also set the Scan Mode, which automatically rotates all the metrics, showing each for 6 seconds.

The button also has a reset function. You can press and hold it for a few seconds to clear all the values to zero except the odometer. The odometer can only reset if you remove the batteries.

The battery-operated monitor requires two AAA batteries, which come with the bike. It starts up when you press the Mode button or when you begin pedaling. In addition, it also automatically turns off if it doesn’t detect flywheel movement for more than four minutes.

SF-B1995 Assembly and Maintenance

The bike’s frame comes pre-assembled with the flywheel, brake, belt, and crankset. Then, you only need to attach the two base bars, the seat post, the saddle, the handlebar post, the handlebar, the fitness monitor, the pedals, and several small covers.

Therefore, it shouldn’t take longer than 30 minutes of your time. The manual provides clear assembly instructions and diagrams, and all the necessary tools for the task come included with the bike.

For maintenance, the brake pads may require lubrication. A few drops of silicone lubricant should cover each side of the flywheel’s edge. Besides, you only have to keep the bike clean and periodically check for loose parts.

  3. I have been looking for a new exercise bike, and you’ve definitely given me an option to consider. I especially like the idea of the belt-driven flywheel. My previous version was chain-driven, and it was N-O-i-S-Y! I’m not too fond of the idea of having to hold the handlebars for the bike to read my pulse. Do you know if they plan to upgrade to a different method like a Bluetooth connection to a chest strap or something similar?

    • Hi William, thanks for stopping by. In the price range of this Sunny bike, I am not aware of many bikes that offer Bluetooth, and if they did, you would still have to purchase the HR chest strap or armband. So instead, I suggest that you consider getting a separate device such as the Wahoo TICKR FIT Heart Rate Monitor to monitor your pulse.

      Kind regards, Robert

  5. Hi Robert, thanks for this Sunny Pro II Exercise bike review. I like that it is adjustable from 5 ft to 6.5 ft –  for such a wide range of leg (height) sizes. That means my husband and I could use it easily with no problem at all. Some exercise bikes do not give that wide a range. Even though the assembled bike is heavy, it must have good stability. (We don’t want any accidents here!) It is excellent that it does not take up a lot of space. That makes it well-suited for a smaller home.
