    Bowflex Treadmill 10

T10 Frame Construction

The Bowflex Treadmill 10 is a heavy-duty treadmill built on a sturdy steel frame. The fully assembled machine weighs approximately —323 lbs (146.5 kg), which offers a lot of stability and support. There are some plastic and ABS parts in its construction. However, these only fulfill a protective or cosmetic role and don’t influence its overall sturdiness.

Its adjustable, rubberized stabilizers improve its overall stability on the front metallic base frame. In addition, the machine’s steel parts come double-coated with a corrosion-resistant and scratch-resistant paint finish. The color is black, with the Bowflex logo painted red and white.

This Bowflex treadmill is considerably large. When fully assembled, it’s 85″ (215.8 cm) long and 39.6″ (100.5 cm) wide. It also is advisable to have at least three feet of clearance at the deck’s rear and at least two clearance feet on each side for safe operation. Thus, it’s not exactly a machine for a small room or apartment.

On the other hand, the frame features a folding design. The deck folds up, and in this position, the machine’s length is reduced by approximately one-half, offering better storage possibilities. The folding mechanism integrates a hydraulic lift, which helps you unfold the deck, preventing any damage from dropping quickly.

Despite its impressive weight, this treadmill isn’t too difficult to move once assembled. The middle part of its metallic base features two small transport wheels, which ease the folded machine’s relocation.

Deck

Bowflex Treadmill 10
Bowflex Treadmill 10

The Bowflex Treadmill 10 features quite an impressive deck construction. To begin with, it can support users up to 400 lbs (181.4 kg).

It features the Bowflex Comfort Tech Cushioning, a suspension when running on the top surface. For instance, this is key because many runners complain of ankle or knee pain while running. The extra support makes it possible to find relief even running a long distance on the new treadmill.

Bowflex has taken the time to focus on this and has emphasized its latest design improvements. As a result, the Comfort Tech cushioning is robust, and refined, and offers modern users the type of protection needed.

The deck integrates extra-large, crowned rollers equipped with industrial-grade ball bearings for smooth motion and a long lifespan. In addition, the belt is highly durable, stretch-resistant, and designed to provide superior adherence.

The running surface offered by it is 60″L x 22″W (152.4L x 55.9W cm) and can comfortably accommodate users up to 6’6″ (198 cm), promoting a healthy, natural motion without any restrictions.

T10 Incline and step-up height

Bowflex Treadmill 10

The Bowflex Treadmill 10 comes with a motorized decline/incline system. It consists of a small lift powered by the incline motor situated at the front of the deck.

The decks’ decline/incline is adjustable from the console, buttons on the front handlebars, knobs on the handrails, and automatically during onboard workout programs. In addition, the machine needs a connection to a power circuit for it to work.

The incline system offers a decline/incline range between -5% and +15%. Adjustments are in increments of 1%. The console features quick incline controls for the -5, 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 settings, but gradual incline adjustments are also available.

Also, some of the onboard programs of the T10 machine control incline. The machine will auto-adjust the deck’s incline according to the current workout segment.

At 0% incline, the running surface of the deck is approx. 10″ (25.4 cm) above floor level. With the slope set up to 15%, the deck’s highest point reaches a height of 16″ (40.7 cm). Therefore, it’s advisable to place and use the machine in a room with a ceiling at least 21″ (53.3 cm) higher than the height of the tallest user.

Drive Motor

This Bowflex Treadmill 10 has a 4.0 CHP heavy-duty motor. It’s a continuous-duty motor that withstands prolonged workouts at maximum speed without overheating or losing performance, even if the user is near the maximum weight capacity.

A small flywheel is a motor component that reduces vibration, rendering the running experience much smoother. The motor itself generates very little noise when the machine is in use. However, your cadence will produce some sound when running at high speeds.

Bowflex Treadmill 10
Bowflex Treadmill 10

The T10 offers a speed range of 0.5 MPH and 12 MPH. The speed adjusts exclusively by the user from the console, and the console does not automatically adjust the speed during any of the onboard workout programs.

You’ll find gradual and quick adjustment keys for speed like the incline. In addition, the speed is adjustable in increments of 0.1 MPH. Therefore, it lets you see the perfectly suited pace for each workout.

The T10 comes with a standard US 3-prong plug, not an adapter. It requires a 120V 15A power circuit. The machine requires connecting to a power circuit without other devices connected to the same circuit to avoid power surges. Using a surge suppressor to prevent damage to the motor or console is not wrong.

T10 Console

The Bowflex Treadmill 10 has a high-performance console featuring a large, 10″ HD touchscreen. It shows time, distance, speed, incline, total calories burned, average calories burned per minute, and heart rate. In addition, it has a burn rate display, which shows the calories burned for a minute at the current workout levels.

The speed and distance are in either metric or imperial units. In addition, the console can monitor your heart rate via integrated pulse sensors in the front handlebars.

Bowflex Treadmill 10

However, it’s also telemetric; it can read your pulse via an HR chest strap that operates in the 4.5kHz – 5.5kHz. Unfortunately, an HR chest strap does not come with the machine. However, an HR armband comes with the treadmill.

This Bowflex Treadmill 10 is compatible with the JRNY™ digital platform and other virtual training apps.

T10 Workout Programs

Bowflex Treadmill 10

The unit’s console features 13 unique workout programs with four user profiles. The nine preset programs are Fat Burn, Calorie Burn, Calorie Goal, Target Heart Rate, 8 Min. Interval, and 16 Min. Interval and Strength.

The Custom program allows you to design your program, save it, and reuse it whenever possible. The Manual Mode allows you to run, jog, or walk freely, to adjust the speed and incline you like during your session.

The T10 has four user profiles. This feature is excellent to have if multiple persons use the machine. Each user can have their settings with their data, such as age, weight, gender, display units, and sound volume. This way, the console can calculate the number of calories each user burns with higher accuracy.

Amenities

The Bowflex Treadmill 10 console features a cooling fan, a sound system, a tablet holder, and several accessory trays in extras. The cooling fan is at the unit’s bottom; it has 3-speed low, medium, and high settings.

The T10 sound system consists of two speakers at the toonhscreen’s bottom. This sound system is compatible with most MP3 players, tablets, or smartphones, so you can play your music through it anytime you exercise. Or, with JRNY, discover an ever-changing lineup of new playlists to blast through the built-in Bluetooth speakers.

And finally, the tablet holder is just above the unit’s speakers. It has an anti-slip surface and is just below the touchscreen display. So, if you place a tablet on it, it blocks the view of your workout stats. However, the treadmill is Bluetooth compatible and can sync with your tablet or smart device to stay on track with your workout stats.

T10 Assembly and Maintenance

Bowflex does a great job with their assembly manual – better than most, I’d say. They provide easy-to-see images with each step, clearly showing which hardware is for each step. The assembly process for Treadmill 10 is pretty straightforward. Therefore, it shouldn’t take more than an hour of your time. All the necessary tools for the assembly come with the machine.

Bowflex Treadmill 10
Bowflex Treadmill 10

The deck comes primarily pre-assembled, so you’d be responsible for attaching the uprights, attaching the console, and connecting a few accessories like covers. There are a few more cable connections with the hi-tech tablet than usual, but that shouldn’t be that bad, either.

It’s a good idea to have at least two people around when it comes time to assemble because, as I mentioned, this is a vast, heavy treadmill. Also, having someone around to hold the console while you make cable connections will make it much more manageable.

For maintenance, the lubrication of the deck is after every 25 hours of usage. For this, you should use 100% pure silicone lubricant. In addition, the belt and the surface underneath the deck should be vacuumed and cleaned periodically to prevent any objects, textile fibers, or dust from being dragged into the motor or clogging the air vents.

It’s also advisable to regularly inspect the machine for loose or damaged parts and retighten or replace them as needed.

    • Hi Ann, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts about the Bowflex Treadmill 10. I especially like the JRNY app as well. It’s essentially a tablet, and I love that you can stream Netflix and Amazon Prime Videos.

Be on the lookout for my review of the Bowflex Treadmill 22. It features a 22″ HD touchscreen. Finally, NordicTrack and Peleton have some competition which is great for the consumer.

  2. Thank you for the information; it is most helpful when deciding on a treadmill. I have a treadmill, the ProForm 650V, it is not as fancy as this one, but it’s keeping me fit. At least when I am ready to upgrade, I can use this info to make a decision. I will share your article with all my fitness friends:)

  3. You give a very detailed review of the Bowflex Treadmill 10. The only experience I have had with a treadmill is at my gym. This particular Bowflex 10 looks very professional and has everything one needs for a proper workout. I would have said this does not look like what you would expect to see in a home gym. However, it is an impressive piece of equipment. Thank you for the article/review.

  4. The Bowflex Treadmill 10 is an excellent tool for home gym use. Unfortunately, one doesn’t often find a warranty of 15 years on the frame and motor of a treadmill for home use. Although it is a vast machine, the foldable design does mean it can be stored when not in use.

With four user profiles and nine preset workout programs, it means it can cater to several household members. Being also Bluetooth enabled and connecting to the Zwift virtual training app or using the JRNY digital platform are great features.

The Bowflex Treadmill 10 is an excellent treadmill for those that have a larger budget and the space to accommodate it.

  5. You’ve written a thorough, detailed review of the Bowflex Treadmill 10. I am curious to know if the new tablet features on the Bowflex are giving Peleton a run for their money or if they are “even” now.

It’s good to hear about Bowflex treadmills, which are especially good for anyone trying to get their home gym set up. I’ll have my husband check this review out because he’s a gym rat. He likes to go to the gym but also wants to have a small gym set up at the house for the days when he doesn’t want to leave the house.

    Very informative review!
