pooboo W268 Recumbent Bike | Burn Calories and Lose Weight

L NOW Sport built the pooboo W268 Recumbent Bike with a compact design that conveniently fits into the smallest exercise spaces. Moreover, the solid construction supports a maximum user weight limit of up to 300 lbs (136 kg). Shape, firm, and tone your physique and increase your body’s cardiovascular endurance while burning calories and losing weight.

The W268 bike uses manual magnetic resistance with eight exceptional levels of resistance. Easily adjust the resistance during your workout by turning the convenient knob under the front handlebars. Magnetic resistance gives you a smooth and quiet riding experience.

The pooboo W268 Recumbent Bike has a fitness monitor that displays your speed, time, distance, calories burned, and odometer. Unfortunately, the monitor does not have a pulse reading function. Therefore, you’ll have to use a separate device if you require pulse monitoring.

The W268 padded seat and backrest are comfortable high-density foam wrapped with durable upholstery material. The large seat and backrest take the pressure off your tailbone and spine. Thus, it provides excellent lumbar support and comfort during long workout sessions.

W268 Frame Construction

The pooboo W268 recumbent bike features a two-piece frame type. Its rear section that holds the seat connects to the front piece that supports the drive and resistance elements. In addition, seven adjustment points on the frame bar offer the possibility of securing it closer or farther from the pedals.

The bike’s frame is steel-made and coated with a corrosion-resistant gray paint finish. The covers of the drive and resistance elements are hard ABS plastic; they are black with red highlights and the pooboo name in white.

The bike has a step-through design. Although this may seem an insignificant feature, it can be quite a plus for users with specific disabilities or the elderly. It simply allows for easier entry and exit.

The bike isn’t giant. It measures approximately 55″ (140 cm) in length and 25″ (63 cm) in width. However, leaving at least two feet of clearance all around it is advisable to ease access and for safe usage.

It weighs approximately 55 lbs (25 kg). Therefore, it can be assembled and carried by only one person. Once completed, it’s even easier to move as its front base integrates two small wheels. Also, its rear base comes with polygonal caps that can rotate and serve as levelers.

Seat and handlebars

The pooboo W268 comes equipped with a seat designed for optimal comfort. Its bottom pad is approx—12.5″ (32 cm) wide and 11.5″ (29 cm) deep. The backrest has the same width and is approx. 16″ (47) long. Thus, the seat assembly offers plenty of contact surfaces. It’s also durable enough to support users up to 300 lbs (136 kg).

The seat pad and backrest pad integrate approximately 1.5″ (4 cm) of foam cushioning. Furthermore, the backrest is attached to a sturdy backbone, so it provides excellent lumbar support. However, the backrest does not adjust independently from the seat. Therefore, it doesn’t recline, and you cannot change its height.

The bike’s seat doesn’t have a rail adjustment system for the W258 model. Instead, the whole rear section of the cycle is adjustable. In addition, the lower bar makes available several adjustment positions.

Therefore, the bike can accommodate users between 5’0″ and 6’0″ (153 – 183 cm). However, although they may use the bike, taller users may not benefit from a complete leg extension.

The bike comes with two sets of handlebars. One connects to the seat assembly, the other to the front mast of the bike. The seat handlebars attach directly to the seat frame via screws, so they’re non-adjustable.

Unfortunately, they don’t integrate HR pulse sensors like some other recumbent bikes. Also, they’re set at a pretty comfortable height, approx. 19.5″ (50 cm) above floor level.

The front handlebars have a simple, straight design. Just like the seat handlebars, they have rubberized grips. Also, the front mast of the bike curves towards the seat, so if you want to exercise by holding the front handlebars, you will still benefit from a pretty comfortable position.

W268 Drive and resistance

The pooboo W268 comes equipped with a standard magnetic resistance system. However, it’s not motorized, so the resistance adjustment is made manually. Also, the bike doesn’t require an external power source and cannot adjust the resistance automatically.

The resistance system consists of an internal magnetic brake that connects to the tension knob on the front mast of the bike via a steel wire. Therefore, when you turn the knob, the brake’s position to the flywheel changes; this increases or decreases the pedaling resistance.

The tension knob has eight pre-determined difficulty levels marked on it. The first two levels provide light resistance for gentle exercising, great for blood circulation improvement and workout warm-up.

The 3-5 tension levels deliver moderate workout intensity, while the 6-8 levels offer considerably more resistance and the possibility to perform a more consistent workout.

The weight of the internal flywheel is not specified. But since the fully assembled unit only weighs 55 lbs (25 kg), its flywheel probably doesn’t exceed 20 lbs (9 kg). However, it has a perimeter-weighted structure for a bit of extra inertia. It is also bi-directional.

pooboo W268 Recumbent Bike

Most recumbent exercise bikes equipped with a magnetic resistance system have a belt transmission. The pooboo W268 does not make an exception. It integrates a poly-v belt, delivering a smooth and quiet pedaling motion. Also, since it’s a belt and not a chain, you don’t have to worry about its lubrication.

The bike’s pedals are counter-balanced, so they always turn face-up when you remove your feet from them. They come with straps so you can secure your feet into position. They connect to durable steel crank arms; however, standing up on the pedals is not advisable since this is not a spin bike.

The bike’s fitness monitor does not play any role in the resistance adjustment nor does it have any preset programs, or online connectivity. It’s only a simple fitness monitor. It has an LCD that displays the time, distance, total distance, speed, and calories burned.

Unfortunatelty, the fitness monitor does not have a pulse reading function, and the bike does not integrate any pulse sensors. It also cannot read your pulse from a wireless HR chest strap. Thus, you must use a separate device to monitor your heart rate during workouts.

The monitor is straightforward to use. It only has one button, allowing you to select any workout metrics or the Scan Mode. When this function is selected, the console rotates all the metrics showing each one for several seconds. The button also covers the Reset function. You can press and hold it for a few seconds to clear all the values to zero.

The fitness monitor is battery-powered and requires 2 AA batteries, which come included with the bike. It starts up automatically when you pedal or press its button. It also turns off automatically if it does not detect any pedaling activity for more than four minutes.

W268 Assembly and Maintenance

The drive and resistance elements come pre-assembled, attached to the frame’s front section, and covered by the ABS shrouds. However, the rest of the bike does require user assembly.

You will have to connect the rear frame section to the front frame section, attach the two base stabilizer bars, and add the seat, the front upright bar (or the front mast), the fitness monitor, and the pedals.

Consequently, this may take up to one hour of your time, but the process is far from complicated. The included manual provides clear assembly instructions, and a few essential tools come with the bike.

Since the bike features a belt drive system, it doesn’t need internal maintenance for a very long time. So you only have to keep the unit clean and periodically check for loose parts in terms of care.

pooboo W268 Recumbent Bike Summary

The pooboo W268 is a recumbent bike designed for home use, and it comes equipped with an 8-level manual magnetic resistance system, a quiet belt drive, and a fitness monitor. In addition, it has an adjustable, two-piece frame and can accommodate users up to 6’0″ and 300 lbs.

Moreover, it’s a decent exercise bike for light cardio workouts, recovery training, muscle toning, and weight loss. It’s not one of the most affordable in this feature range but offers excellent value.

  1. There are two things I particularly like about this recumbent bike. The first is its frame. I am a big guy, and when I saw how sturdy it is, I felt this was the one for me. The other thing I like is its console. I like how simple it is with just one button. These things have made me begin considering this recumbent bike seriously.

    • Hello Paolo, thanks for your interest in the pooboo W268 recumbent bike. I have many more written reviews to choose from, and I’m always happy to help as well.

      Best regards, Robert

  2. Hello Robert,

I like your review of the pooboo W268 recumbent bike. Specifically, you mention the ease of entry and exit from the bike, making this an excellent option for older adults and those with disabilities. I manage a memory care community, and after reading your in-depth and helpful review, I am seriously considering getting a bike. I hadn’t thought of it before, but some of my residents might enjoy riding the bike and trigger exercising habits from the past. It would undoubtedly boost mood and keep them busy.

Would you suggest this model for my situation? Or another choice?

    • Hello Tamara, thanks for your interest in the pooboo W268 recumbent bike. This bike would be perfect for light daily usage. Something like one hour every other day. And it’s an extremely affordable bike. However, for your situation, I recommend the Sole Fitness LCR recumbent bike. It’s a light commercial quality exercise bike with an excellent warranty. It will withstand heavy daily use and it’s perfect for elderly users. It deserves your consideration. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

      Kind regards, Robert

  3. This sounds like a bike that I would use. I tend not to like bells and whistles, so I like that it is fundamental. I like to ride a real bike, but I can see the benefit for people who are short on time or live in an area that is not good for regular bike riding. I checked your link, and I have to say the price is surprising compared to other bikes.

I would say that it is not a cheap design built that it is an incredible deal.

    Thanks for the great review

    • Hi Tom, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. I agree; this pooboo W268 recumbent bike an incredible deal.

      Best regards, Robert

  4. This multi-purpose trainer looks impressive. I commend you on a very detailed and informative review; all of the features, pros, cons, and everything else that goes into the review.  It doesn’t get any better than increasing your body’s cardiovascular endurance while burning calories and losing weight.

All in all, the pooboo W268 recumbent bike is a great product.

I wish you all the best.

    • Hi Boris, thanks for stopping by. Would you please let me know if I can ever be of assistance in choosing exercise equipment? I’m glad to be of help.

      Kind regards, Robert

  5. Like an exercise bike, the pooboo W268 seems to have almost everything you would need from an exercise bike. I have trouble with my feet, so the step-through aspect of the cycle certainly appeals to me. Thus, it will help reduce the number of falls some people may have getting on and off the bike. That is certainly a plus.

Knowing that you can adjust the amount of friction for a better workout should be considered highly. Most people want to have good training; otherwise, you would not get the exercise you desire.

Overall, I would say that minus the heart rate monitor(desired by me), the pooboo W268 should be a wonder to have and to use to its potential for incredible workouts.

    • Hi Jerry, thanks for stopping by. Would you please let me know if I can ever assist you with exercise equipment? I’m always happy to help.

      Kind regards, Robert

  6. Can you address the wiring? Is there a specific way to connect them? My bike is almost ready to ride once I figure out the wires.

    Thank you. Judy

    • Hi Judy, thanks for stopping by. I’m sorry but I haven’t seen the wiring diagram for this pooboo bike. However, I’m providing this link to L NOW Sport (pooboo is a sister company). If you send them an email they will respond within 24 hours. I hope this resolves your problem and that you enjoy the bike. Would you please come back and leave us an update?

      Kind regards, Robert
