Compared with other exercise bikes, the SUNMYTH Indoor Cycling Bike has a one-piece streamlined design that can significantly meet all users’ athletic needs. In addition, the SUNMYTH bike features a thickened commercial-grade steel frame with a maximum user weight limit of 275 lbs (125 kg). Therefore, this spin bike is more stable and safe to use.
It comes equipped with a standard friction resistance system consisting of a wool felt pad attached to the frame above the 35-pound flywheel and connected to the tension knob. Rotating the knob to the left and right increases or decreases the resistance to the desired pedaling difficulty. A simple operation can meet the needs of all users. Press the knob to stop the flywheel from spinning safely.
The SUNMYTH indoor cycling bike has a 4-way adjustable seat which is more friendly to people of different heights, weights, and ages. Its vertical post features 20 adjustment positions. Therefore, the bike comfortably accommodates users between 5’0″ and 6’3″ (153 – 190 cm) with no problem. The PVC-coated handlebar is hard-wearing and heat-resistant.
The included fitness monitor LCD will track your exercise time, speed, distance, and calories burned in real time so that you can know your progress and adjust your training. Unfortunately, it does not have pre-set workout programs or online connectivity or is compatible with any fitness apps. In addition, the monitor does not have a pulse reading function as well.

The SUNMYTH indoor cycling bike has a different construction than your conventional spin bike. First, it has a triangular structure that lacks the longitudinal bar connecting the two front and back body parts. However, the frame is pretty sturdy, having a maximum user weight limit of 275 lbs (125 kg).
The bike is primarily oval steel tubes. It has smoother and more aesthetic design lines than the average spin bike. The base bars are angled to provide more stability, and both have adjustable levelers with rubber pads. All the steel parts in the bike’s construction come double-coated with a durable black paint finish with the “SUNMYTH” logo painted white.
Like most other indoor cycling bikes, the SUNMYTH bike is not a large fitness machine. Its assembled footprint is approx. 44.88″L x 21.2″W (114 x 54 cm). However, it would be best to leave some clearance around it for safe usage and easy access. The approximate advisable usage area for an exercise bike of this size should be around 80″L x 60″W (203 x 152 cm).
The bike is relatively heavy, weighing around 95 lbs (43 kg). Therefore, two people should carry and assemble the bike. However, once completed, one person can quickly move the bike as its front base comes equipped with large silicone wheels.
Seat and handlebars
The SUNMYTH indoor cycling bike includes a saddle that offers superior comfort. Its cushioned top section has a layer of durable vinyl material. In addition, it also has a median cutout for improved breathability. It’s also important to note that its attachment system features a standard collar and one screw. Therefore, the saddle is easy to remove if needed. Furthermore, if you will ever want to replace it, compatible options are widely available.
The seat is four-way adjustable (up, down, front, back). In particular, its vertical post features 20 adjustment positions, while the horizontal slider adds a few inches of front-to-back adjustment. Thus, the bike comfortably accommodates users between 5’0″ and 6’3″ (153 – 190 cm) with no problem.
The bike comes equipped with a multi-grip handlebar. Therefore, it offers the possibility to adopt a climbing grip, an off-road grip, a standard grip, and a close grip. In addition, it has a layer of rubber foam material for a superior grip. Unfortunately, the handlebars do not have integrated HR pulse sensors or other controls for the bike.
The bike’s handlebar is two-way adjustable (up, down). However, it does not have a horizontal slider for front-to-back adjustment. Specifically, its vertical post has ten adjustment positions, and its highest point above the floor level is approx—42″ (107 cm) (excluding the device holder).
The SUNMYTH indoor cycling bike has a standard manual friction resistance system. Thus, it is not motorized, so you don’t need to connect it to a power source. Furthermore, the only power source required is a set of two AAA batteries for the fitness monitor. In addition, it’s important to note that the monitor does not control the pedaling difficulty in any way.
The bike’s resistance system consists of a wool felt pad attached to the frame above the flywheel and connected to a tension knob on the mainframe tube. Therefore, when you turn the knob clockwise, the brake pad tightens on the flywheel, which increases the pedaling difficulty.
Unfortunately, the bike’s resistance system does not have pre-determined tension levels. For instance, you tighten the brake on the flywheel until you find the pedaling difficulty you want. However, as a general idea, the bike simulates a hill climb when tightening the pad and can provide quite a challenge, even for a seasoned user.
In addition, the tension knob, when pressed down, stops the flywheel instantly. This emergency brake feature is quite useful, especially if you’ve been pedaling at high speed, because trying to stop the flywheel with your feet from the pedals may lead to injuries.
It’s important to note that the brake pad may require lubrication to allow the flywheel to spin smoothly. In addition, it will also wear out after a while, and you’ll have to replace it.
The SUNMYTH indoor cycling bike comes with a heavy-duty crankset. It has durable steel arms with a flat structure similar to road bikes. In addition, the pulley is a rigid thermoplastic material. Furthermore, the pedals have toe cages but do not have SPD elements for spin shoes.
However, they’re made from aluminum alloy and painted black. In addition, the pedal threads are 9/16″, so you can easily find compatible replacements if you ever want to replace them.
The bike’s Q-Factor (spacing between the pedals) is not specified. However, it is narrower than 200 mm, promoting a natural and comfortable foot placement on the pedals. Thus, the pedaling motion does not generate extra lateral stress on your joints.
The bike comes equipped with a belt drive system. It uses a poly-v belt highly resistant to stretching and abrasion and provides superior traction. The transparent belt guard allows you to see the belt and the pulley. Furthermore, since the bike uses a belt drive, you don’t have to worry about transmission lubrication.
Like other indoor cycles, the SUNMYTH indoor cycling bike integrates a 35-lb (15.8 kg) flywheel. In addition, it is chrome-plated and has ABS side guards. Equally important, it is perimeter-weighted for improved inertia, which is excellent for spinning.
The flywheel can move both ways, not just forward. Therefore, you can pedal in reverse on this bike if you want to diversify your workouts. However, coasting is impossible, and when pedaling in reverse, the cycle provides the same resistance as when pedaling forward.
The SUNMYTH indoor cycling bike includes a pretty simple fitness monitor. For example, it does not have pre-set workout programs or online connectivity. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with any fitness app and does not offer the possibility to set goals for your workouts.
The monitor divides into four sub-sections. It indicates time, calories, speed, and distance in up-down order. Unfortunately, the speed and distance are in Imperial units, and you cannot change them to metric units.
Furthermore, the calorie reading function is not the best, based only on RPM. Thus, it doesn’t consider the applied resistance on the flywheel. Therefore, if you tighten the brake harder on the flywheel, you will burn more calories.
As I’ve already mentioned, the monitor requires two AAA batteries. Unfortunately, these do not come with the bike. In addition, it doesn’t have buttons, so it starts when it detects flywheel movement. It also automatically turns off if it doesn’t see any activity on the bike for more than a few minutes.
I can mention the tablet holder for other accessories included with this bike. It is pretty significant and should be able to accommodate most tablets. Unfortunately, it attaches to the handlebar’s top tube and has no angle adjustability.
Assembly and Maintenance
The bike’s main body comes pre-assembled. The flywheel, the crankset, the belt with its guard, and the brake are also pre-installed. You only need to attach the two base bars, the pedals, the seat post, the seat, the handlebar post, the handlebar, and the fitness monitor.
Consequently, this shouldn’t take more than one hour of your time. The task is relatively simple, and the manual provides precise assembly instructions. An essential toolkit also comes with the bike.
For maintenance, you only have to clean the bike, periodically check for loose bolts and parts, and retighten them as needed. Furthermore, the drive belt doesn’t require lubrication, but the brake pad might need a few drops of silicone lubricant from time to time for a smooth flywheel motion.
