The YOSUDA H-185 Magnetic Rowing Machine features heavy-duty commercial-quality steel, which is very sturdy and durable. In addition, the approximate 43.3-inch slide rail is also very sturdy; the maximum user weight limit is 350 lbs (158.7 kg). The user inseam length of 49.2″ (125 cm) accommodates users up to 6’6″ (198 cm).
The H-185 rowing machine has a 10 lbs (4.5 kg) flywheel and eight levels of manual magnetic resistance. In particular, the magnetic resistance system creates unbelievably smooth and nearly silent rowing. As a result, you won’t have to worry about disturbing your family and neighbors.
In addition, YOSUDA H-185 magnetic rowing machine comes equipped with an ergonomically designed seat cushion to provide a comfortable row experience. Furthermore, the oversized foot pedals comfortably accommodate nearly any shoe size. In addition, the non-slip textured pedals also have adjustable straps to ensure your safety.

H-185 Frame Construction
The YOSUDA H-185 rower features a rectangular tubing steel frame with oval stabilizing bars. In addition, it comes equipped with a reasonably long rail, approximately 43.3″ (110 cm), and offers an applicable user inseam length of 49.2″ (125 cm). Therefore, the machine comfortably accommodates users up to 6’6″ (198 cm), allowing a complete range of motion.
The rail inclines slightly forward. Thus, the machine provides a better leg workout, especially during the push phase. The rail is also sturdy; this rower’s maximum user weight limit is 350 lbs (158.7 kg).
The fully assembled trainer is not too large compared with other models, such as the PowerBoostConcept rower. It is approximately 74.8″ (190 cm) long and 19.3″ (49 cm) wide. Plus, allowing at least 24″ (61 cm) on each side and at the rear of the unit is advisable for ease of access and safe usage.
The machine can fold up. The rail secures to the front section of the rower via a large knob, allowing you to quickly disengage it and fold it up along with the seat. With the rail folded up, the unit’s footprint is approximately 28.7″L x 19.3″W (73 x 49 cm), while its height reaches approximately 46″ (117 cm).
In addition, this YOSUDA rower is not super heavy, weighing approx—65 lbs (29 kg). Therefore, one person can carry and assemble the rower. Once completed, it is easier to move as its front base stabilizer features transport wheels. In addition, both base stabilizers also have adjustable levelers.
Seat and handlebars
The YOSUDA H-185 magnetic rowing machine features a seat similar to other rowing machines. Its base is steel-made and integrates three sets of wheels.
Two wheels slide over the rail, while the third slides under it for extra stability. The wheels have high-grade internal ball bearings for smooth motion and a rubber coating on the outside for reduced noise.
The top of the seat is a high-density foam material, so it’s not completely hard; it provides a bit of shock absorption for your tailbone. In addition, it has contours and texturing for better positioning. Finally, it is relatively large, approximately 14″ (35 cm) wide and 11″ (28 cm) deep, so it provides plenty of contact surface.
As mentioned earlier, the rail slants forward slightly, so the seat does not maintain a constant height. As a result, its highest point is approximately 12 – 13 inches (30 – 33 cm) when it is close to the rear of the rail.
The YOSUDA H-185 rower comes equipped with oversized footrests made from a durable thermoplastic material. They have a textured surface, heel guards, and adjustable straps for maximum foot stability. In addition, they are non-adjustable but large enough to accommodate athletic shoes of all sizes.
The footrests have a pivoting design. Therefore, they can tilt back and forth on their axis. This way, they can adapt better to the pressure you apply during each stroke. In addition, they have stoppers at the heel, so they won’t tilt back past an angle of approx. 60°.
The pulling handle is a simple, straight bar. It has rubber foam sleeves for an improved grip. It’s attached to the machine’s resistance system via a heavy-duty, braided nylon strap, highly resistant to stretching and abrasion. Unfortunately, it does not have any controls or HR pulse sensors.
H-185 Resistance system
The YOSUDA H-185 comes equipped with a manual magnetic resistance system. Therefore, you don’t have to connect it to an external power source and don’t need a power cord or adapter. However, the fitness monitor does not have pre-set workout programs and cannot adjust the resistance automatically.
The machine’s resistance system is similar to magnetic resistance exercise bikes. It involves a magnetic brake attached to the internal flywheel system and the tension knob on the front unit of the rower.
When you turn this knob, the magnets on the brake move closer or farther from the flywheel, increasing or decreasing the rowing resistance. As a result, the flywheel is not too heavy; it weighs approx—10 lbs (4.5 kg).
The main advantage of the magnetic brake is that the magnets do not touch the flywheel, and the rowing motion is smooth and quiet compared to air or water resistance rowers.
Unfortunately, the machine does not produce a dynamic response during rowing. Thus, the resistance does not depend on how fast you pull the handle, like water or air resistance rowers, which provide a more appropriate rowing sensation to rowing a real boat.
Nevertheless, any magnetic rower still provides a consistent full-body cardio workout, great for toning muscles, improving stamina, and losing weight.
The machine makes available eight levels of resistance. The first level provides a reasonably light workout difficulty, great for a warmup. Conversely, the 8th level offers distinguishably more tension.
However, the machine does not provide a super tough workout load as a general idea. It’s great for beginners or mid-level users but may not be the best choice for a professional athlete.
Fitness monitor
The YOSUDA H-185 rower comes equipped with a pretty simple fitness monitor. It features an LCD (without a backlight) that tracks time, distance, strokes, total strokes, and calories burned. However, it does not show strokes per minute (SPM) or split time (time/500 m). Unfortunately, it also does not have a pulse reading function.
The monitor is straightforward to use. It only has one button, which covers two functions. First, you can repeatedly press it to select the workout metric you want to view.
Or, you can select the scan mode, which enables it to automatically scroll through the metrics showing each one for a few seconds. Secondly, the button covers the reset function. So, you can press and hold it for a few seconds to clear all the values to zero.
The battery-powered unit requires two AAA batteries, which come included. It starts up when you press the button or when you begin rowing. In addition, it also automatically turns off to save battery after a few minutes of inactivity on the rower.
H-185 Assembly and Maintenance
The resistance unit of the rower comes pre-assembled. You only need to connect the front base stabilizer, insert the seat on the rail, connect the rail to the front unit, add the rear stabilizer to the footrests, put batteries in the fitness monitor, and install the device holder.
Therefore, it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes of your time. Furthermore, the task is straightforward, and the manual provides precise assembly instructions. In addition, all the necessary tools also come included.
It is advisable to keep the machine clean, especially the rail, to prevent any damage to the seat wheels for maintenance. The internal parts do not need any lubrication. It’s also advisable to periodically check for loose bolts and parts and retighten or replace them.

They say rowing machines give a great full-body workout. I like that the Yosuda has a comfortable seat and oversized footrests, as our family all have big feet.
I also like that it is small, compact, and can fold up to save space. Finally, it’s great that it doesn’t need electricity to function.

Sirs,
I purchased your rowing machine, H-185, through Amazon. I love your product but do have one concern about it. I have noticed during my rowing workouts that part list#30, the plastic chain cover will start to separate under the tension control knob as I do the pulling part of my row. I think this from the bolts holding the foot pedals bending under the strain from my pushing on them. I’m about 280 pounds, well below the 350-pound weight limit of your rowing machine. Is there anything I can do to prevent this separation? Also is there any place to register my rowing machine with your company?
